LIES. First, Bungie removed the 500 rep gain from the nightfall. They also removed the xp boost from the nightfall. They then state that they increased the rep gain from other sources in order to compensate. Now let me tell you why that's bullshit.
Bungie did not increase any of the rep gains, they actually DECREASED all of the rep gains! I can't be the only one who has noticed and is pissed off about this. A normal "kill enemies" patrol mission now grants you A WHOPPING 5 FACTION REP! Compared to the previous 15 or 20. They have decreased the rep gains from all patrol missions, the crucible, and strikes. Even bounties only give you 25 or 50 compared to the 125 or even 200 FACTION REP. The only way to effectively rank up your faction now is to give up all of your materials (heavy ammo, motes, armor materials, etc.).
I don't know about you other guardians, but I don't want to give up all of my possessions in order to rank up my faction. The reputation system was COMPLETELY FINE before TTK came out.
Please Bungie, bring back our nightfall rep and booster. Or actually increase rep gains!!!
Tl;dr : Bungie decreased the rep gains instead of increasing them like they said

Edit: I'm seeing a lot of people saying that the rep has been split between faction and vangaurd/crucible. This is what has mainly contributed to the decreased faction rep and there should be an option to make it so we can focus all of our rep in one place.
I'm assuming Bungie has read this. We are at the top of the trending page :D

7 RepliesSo far, pretty much every single thing they have tryied to sell us as an improvement of something has in fact been the exact opposite. They tried to tell us the coversion to Legendary marks was for our benefit and that it was "unlimited". - totall crap - the limit is moved to a different place - made stupidly complicated and the end result is we get WAY WAY less than we used to. In the past I could get 600 marks a week to spend between my 3 characters. Now with infusion and the earning limits I have yet to have more that 120 marks total in one place. The told us they were making the new bosses less bullet spongy. - while this may be technically true - they then raised the heroic levels to 41 making every trash mob into a bullet sponge. End result? Way more bullets to get through a heroic strike. etc... etc... etc... bungie are a bunch of liers. All they care about is their own ego and their own wallets...

Agreed, the material exchange is the only real way to rank up. But since I've gotten all 4 shaders and the new ship (Level 27 FWC) I'm not going to bother anymore. The other day I was sat there grinding out bounties, trying to rank up a faction, and I just stopped and thought 'why am I doing this'...

Yes and please remove the damn strangecoins from the nf loot... Since the taken king, all the nightfall drops seems to be more and more shitier... No pointnon doing nf anymore

Yes I've noticed and I am sick of the shit taking forever to level up. Especially when you have to get to rank 25 to get an exotic bounty from the faction. Again I put my head down and think, "dear god Bungie wtf are you doing..."

Yup. Thanks for tricking us into paying through the nose for a year-long beta test. All content, to include player-owned content by the way, prior to TTK is now irrelevant. And year two is off to a flying start; nerfing in-game material sources (lead-up to more microtransactions); nerfing weapons that didn't need nerfing (shotguns); reduction or removal of motes, strange coins, faction rep, item drops, etc.; three of coins still "says" it's supposed to increase exotic drops, but only gives legendaries; console exclusive legendaries seem to be locked behind the same "it only drops if you already have ten of them" RNG wall... etc., etc., etc.

And even worse (and likely already mentioned), the Exotic class items only bump up Faction rep by a measly 10%... and it appears to [i]round down[/i]. So that 5 rep kill mission should give 5.5 and round up to 6 but it still only gives 5 rep. You bust your arse for an exotic class item and the rep benefits are meaningless. The only reason I use it is for the spawn animation, otherwise the class specific, vanguard rep increase ones would be better.

I read it and felt the same. The only advantage I had was 2 of my classes were already at lvl 25 dead orbit and new monarchy. My other was not far off so I have the quests done. As I see no it will take people forever to lvl up. I feel bungie fouled this up.

Bump. The longer I play, the less i like this retread of year 1. I refuse to call it an expansion because i somehow have less content then I did August.

I agree. One thing I did notice is it seems like glimmer income is substantially increased. So when I get to 25K glimmer with nothing to spend it on I run to gunsmith and buy heavy ammo until I'm down to 5K. I then go to faction guy (go Dead Orbit or go home lol) and turn those heavy ammos into faction rep. I've leveled up a couple time cause of this. But I still agree that they basically lowered it.

Motes and glimmer aren't very useful. I think the idea was to remove these heavy-hitter rep gains for more smaller ones. I understand you don't want to give up your heavy synths, but where's all that glimmer going? Where are your motes going? I never capped pre-TTK. Now I glimmer cap all the time, so I buy heavy ammo synth and sell it off. Not to mention in most settings, special ammo synth is the best to use. And that's just two currencies. You also have tons of parts to spend as well. I think it's an overall increase in non-mutually exclusive ways of earning rep for an overall decrease in earned rep. Transparency and clear communication is not bungie's strong suit. I'm infuriated about certain texts like: 'Get 30 kills in a strike while using radiance.' Bullshit. Get 30 ABILITY kills in a strike while using radiance. Their English is not so good, and I think that's what happened here.

Yea, it took me nearly all year for me to get to level 15 on my fwc on my hunter and now we get less, how am I supposed to reach /even 25 I'm oust over 25 with my dead orbit the exotic emblem doesn't give you much either
