My thoughts on the Titan...

Lately I've been thinking about how the Titan stands out compared to the Hunter and Warlock, and from all I've gathered, it is not in a good way. I've recently been playing Crucible and while I have been going positive in most of the games, there always are situations where I just can't seem to counter or get away from, no matter what. Titans were made with the thought of "Tankers, Close-combat, & Bullet sponges" in mind. Hunters were thought with "Agile, nimble, dead-eyed". Warlocks were with "Wise & Knowledgeable, Balanced Order". From what it actually has been, Titans are NOT bullet sponges nor are they excelling with being close-combat. Hunters and Warlocks can handle everything the Titan can do, and then some. If these classes were advertised in such a way, then why is it that there's not any REAL differences between them other than abilities and armor? I think that there should have been a unique attribute to them to use for the game, and the Titan's should have definitely been the one for higher damage-dealing in close melee combat and damage resistance in general, not just a small base increase to the Armor attribute. Getting into abilities and whatnot, I've been having much trouble playing as a Titan in Crucible. It seems that no matter where i go in a map, there's always a blinking Warlock or Hunter with a shotgun coming right or me, or a grenade that seeks me out or shoots a bolt 10 feet away where I'm trying to hide or run away from. I've seen what all the Titan can do, and it doesn't compare to what Warlocks and Hunters have at their disposal. Titans have grenades that are either lobbed like a normal grenade or stick to a wall or surface and emit a damaging "spike" for several seconds. There is one grenade that sticks to someone when thrown at, but it must be straightforward and precise, otherwise it will swoop around the enemy like as if they had a little force field. These grenades can be easily avoided, as every grenade has a small blast radius compared to Arcbolt/Firebolt and the other sticky & seeking grenades. This is one of the bigger frustrations I have when playing as the Titan in Crucible. From a Titan's arsenal of maneuverability, It fares well to an extent. Lift is similar to the Warlock's Glide, except Lift brings you up higher and quicker, whereas Glide gently moves you up into the air and back down again. It is much better at reaching higher edges. Then there's the Increased Control, Increased Height, & Catapult upgrades. An issue for Catapult is that it does not seem to do anything, compared to the Increased Control. It is supposed to give you a burst of momentum as you activate Lift so that you can achieve a faster speed (similar to Glide's upgrade), but as it turns out, Increased Control does that job. That is a big let down to see how an upgrade to Lift doesn't work as intended, and if it does, then the effect is very unnoticeable. One huge disadvantage that really makes my experience in Crucible so hard to enjoy is how Hunters and Warlocks have the ability to Blink, but the Titan only has an ability that makes him/her move slightly faster/higher. The Blink ability is being overused and combined with shotguns and supers to deliver an insta-kill whooping, and Titans just don't have anything to counter to it. The Titan's Supers, however, are a different story. Fist of Havoc is a great thing for Titans, as it is close-quarters and very powerful. Being able to leave aftershocks and send a wave of static after the initial smash gives us a little more range and time like we enjoy. Ward of Dawn lets us be a great team player and for objective-capturing. Being able to give our allies a big boost will usually turn the tides of the battles in a big way. Unfortunately for the Defender subclass, it has some big flaws, and some are the reasons why this subclass, let alone the Titan in general, goes unused. The Ward of Dawn might be a great protection for capturing objectives and securing/aiding teammates and areas, but for Crucible, it is perhaps the most under-powered super, despite it not having any damage-dealing capabilities. For one, any other Super, no matter what it is, can shatter it, leaving those inside susceptible to punishment. It takes one Nova Bomb & Fist of Havoc, and two Golden Gun shots to pop it. Nova Bomb can even pop the Ward of Dawn and kill the people inside of it at the same time. Fist of Havoc is usually done leaping inside of it to dish out the damage, and that kills everyone inside and gets rid of the bubble if so happen the Defender Titan who spawned it lived. Golden Gun can two-shot it and then have one last shot for the poor sap being aimed at. Golden Gun can also one-shot those inside of the Ward of Dawn if the Hunter walks inside and shoots. Blade Dancer can insta-kill those inside the bubble as the Hunters just waltz right on in. With the Armor of Light buff on, it takes just two-three swipes to kill them. The melee of the Titan is suitable, but is out-performed by the lunge of the Hunter's knife and range of Throwing Knife, and the Warlock's lunge+force combo. Their melees are quite strong, but as far as being able to connect one, you have to be right up to someone like a normal melee should, and that's where a Hunter and Warlocks' melee can out-perform. All in all, the Titan is fun to use, but in terms of PvP, it is out-classed in a very big way, and it completely disappoints me how I can't seem to stand much of a chance against Hunters and Warlocks. tl;dr: Titans suck compared to Hunters and Warlocks, especially in Crucible.
