MY BRAIN HURTS!
From figuring out these god damn expansion options!
Hi all
Basically I own destiny and have done since year one. Im interested in buying the expansion passes, and just the expansion passes, preferably a bundle with all three which would be a fair and reasonable request seeing as I've already baught the game and dont need to re-purchase it.
anyway it seems the options I have are:
1) Buy the expansion pass, which includes dark below and house of wolves (and buy fallen king seperately)
2) Buy Destiny: The Taken King - Digital Collector's Edition (which includes dark below, house of wolves and fallen king AND another copy of destiny which i already own!?)
or 3) buy all three expansions seperately which would cost even more...
Why is there no option to just buy a 'season pass' or something, where if you already own destiny you can just buy all three expansions at X price, without having to pay more by including destiny in the bundle.
This seems like an absurd and pathetic attempt to confuse customers and squeeze as much money as possible from people like me, who just want the expansions, without having to RE PURCHASE A GAME I ALREADY OWN.
am i missing something here?

1 ReplyWelcome to the new marketplace. Bugs the *%&#@ out of me that i can't purchase an "all inclusive DLC pack for the life span of the game" pass. DLC is now really expensive miniature expansions nowadays, the upfront packs only give you some of what's to come… usually the lazy bit that's underwhelming, then for more cash comes the real expansion. Forza has been doing it for years. 6 car packs containing 10 new cars each pack up in the season pass! Except only two of those cars per pack are actually new cars that you'd want - the rest were cars excluded from the previous version. THEN the real DLC comes along, all new sets, Porsche - 15 new cars you've never had etc. I hate the feeling that I've gotta read the fine print these days, everyone is out for your wallet as the priority and NEVER upfront. Right now all I really know is TTK is worth $40 US, and Bungie are cool with that. I'm glad they are! But I want to know why I should be cool with that way before I put the money in their account. Sorry, rant over :P It's a horrible practice that only seems to be getting worse, there should be a bit more respect for the customer.

You want the Legendary bundle if you want to save money. The season pass costs $35 and TTK costs $40. At $60 for everything in the Legendary bundle, [b]you are saving money[/b], and basically you're getting the copy of Destiny for free, so it wouldn't matter, besides a $15 discount on the expansions. The only downside is you won't have access to any expansions until mid September when TTK launches. Alternatively, if you have a physical copy of Destiny you could sell it and save more, making the Legendary bundle an even better deal.

You don't have buy the collectors edition you can get just the taken king for 40$.

If you have Vanilla Destiny but haven't purchased any of the expansions, your best bet is to buy The Taken King Legendary edition. Yes, it doesn't include Vanilla destiny as well, but you get the three expansions for $60. Since TTK by itself costs $40, you are basically getting TDB and HoW for $10 a piece. Yes, their pricing and package options are stupid. But that's your best deal.

its easy. u want everything? preorder the collector's edition want only ttk? just get it however u want and u still will get suros and hakke pack and the vip rewards -if u already own both the dlcs or if u have at least one pg at 30 lev-

Nope you've got it. Bungie loves confusing folks to get them to buy stuff they don't need, they did this with the preorder bonus armory pack too. They word everything to be vague and confusing in hopes that you buy anything and everything you can even if you don't need it.

I just brought the expansions and am going to get TK later when it comes out. I thought about it and felt that a lose of 20 dollars seems fair for me to play and get used to all the content for two months. So if 20 seems trivial to you, but the expansions now, if not, wait until September. :)

You could have bought the Expansion pass for TDB & HoW, TTKing is separate. The cost of Destiny is roughly between 7.08 (Digital Guardian & just TTKing and minor expansions III and IV)-11.25 (All collector's editions.) USD per-month. Compared to something like FFXIV: ARR/WoW 7 USD per-month is a solid deal considering while not a true MMO it carries many of the same development and maintenance burdens in a financial sense. This approach allows users to know what they're buying ahead of time in a fashion Console players are accepting unlike the previously mentioned titles which charge you monthly in-part to maintain upkeep and fund expansions. This method also allows for the player to choose which Expansions to buy, to not, and if they decide against the purchase they're not totally locked out of the game.
