Rant on Game progression

I have spent hours rewriting this, so sorry if it seems bland or poorly rwitten. So I have two main points I want to convey. A. Improvements on 'end game' content- specifically in terms of giving players a larger sense of choice in VIABLE activities. B.Legacy/Vault - Creating a space for players to both store and show-off gear they may be proud of but don't plan on using anytime soon. A. Progression: Perhaps it is me, but I find that every time a new expansion comes out- the previous one/activities tend to become immediately non-viable. Granted this was more prevalent jumping from VoG/OG-Destiny to Dark below than it is going from Dark Below/Crota's end to HoW. Now while for now I may LIKE the etheric light/ascension system the game holds to keep old gear relevant- I find it mostly does just that. It is a band-aid fix to newer content making older content less viable an activity to take part in, meaning that while the old gear I already worked for may still be wearable/usable I find few reasons or people who wish to go back and keep playing old end-game content. HoW is great in that it gave us two forms of end-game content, both in the form of new unique activities that are both challenging and rewarding, but still didn't truly fix the problem of new content having this affect of pushing old content to the side. Now what I want to suggest is mostly set in place, I want to expand on it. 1st. Stop putting out new 'raid level' gear in the tower- in general. Tower/Vanguard gear should be the stepping stone to getting to VoG. If you want to make new tower gear that is relevant for buyers/release of new expansions, require players to own said corresponding expansions AND make a level requirement to purchase that forces players to at least participate in the previous expansions raid/end-game to some extent. [Edit] I of course partially mean to keep the Iron Banner as an exempt from the above point, the way Iron Banner works and exists I think is a good alternative form of 'casual pvp end-game' for the non-frequent/hardcore players to reach max rank, as well as add another activity for the players who want to collect as much unique/high-tier gear as possible. 2nd. For every expansion stack a new higher tier 'hard mode' for all previous raids that grant/rewards armor (maybe guns that part can vary in my book) that is current (or one level lower) to the current end-game level. B. Old problem, new solution: honoring players legacy and giving space to put old worn gear. So it would seem that the ascension system is cool but sorta flawed and probably wont continue. Assuming ascension will stop in the Taken King and/or my previous advice goes ignored- I have an idea regarding Vault Space. So the current Vault size in my opinion is fine, the problem is the fact that guardians have trophies in the form of weapons and armor that they don't plan on using anytime soon. Why not open an area in the Tower that acts as a 'Guardian Housing' center where each and every guardian can go and have their own enclosed social space that they can invite other into. I am of course describing a customizable in-game home/apartment where you can store and display weapons and armor that is neither in you immediate inventory or Vault. [Edit] Obviously we have yet to see the full extent of the 'Year 1/VIP' rewards, and while I appreciate the gesture very much as a player, I just feel a storage/showroom would honor our specific accomplishments in a much more meaningful way. Sorry if this seems short/or long and badly spoken. Just really tired and may revisit this post and revise it. Hope someone takes interest in my ideas/points.
