This week I'm beginning to question if the etheric light is even worth the time spent. Once again, gjallarhorn is the only thing that will get you into a fireteam. And the final vex boss is incredibly OP.
I spent upwards of 5 hours on PoE last night at Lvl 33 trying to get the my last etheric light to reach Lvl 34. 90% of the players that joined bitched out because I didn't have a gjallarhorn.
You only need 2 ghally's and one hunger to kill the boss. And as soon as a competent player finally joined in, he didn't care if I had a ghally and assured us that we could beat it without 3 of them. So first try, I pop a heavy synth for my maxed out hunger of crota, and the other 2 players got their ghally's ready. We beat it first try without a single bit of trouble.
Moral of the story is, stop being a bunch of sissies when 1 player isn't blessed by RNG. People are so worried about other players having gjallarhorn that they don't even give other players a chance, and immediately back out. If people wouldn't of backed out so much, it would've saved hours of searching.
Regardless, this weeks PoE is too hard in my opinion. The time it takes to finish all 5 rounds, isn't worth the payout in my opinion. Round 5 is nearly impossible to beat the way they intended it to be played. Getting marked is an instant kill, and even with the jail breaker buff, the bubble kills you and your teammates wayyyy too fast to allow it to be used as a strategy.
I'm glad I made it through, but I wouldn't even waste my time this week trying it again.

It was ridiculously easy. I had a hunger, my friend had a gg, and the other guy was a 33 with gjally. I popped golden specced with keyhole to get bubbles down and we got him down with only one set of suppression fields.

Lol u need to do what I do:) u look on the forums and find a group at the boss and save urself like an hr:) and here's how we did it own gally two hunger. Pop bubble Drop 7 rockets each Synth and run far left One of the hungers shoots rocket at eye/ breaks bubbles Other 2 unload bh n rockets on boss Done in two eye kills

Edited by CptKungFu: 5/30/2015 5:48:08 PMWe tried boss on level 34 last night and failed, two 33 and one 34, two maxed ghallys and one 312 hunger :(. We tried legit and figured out quick it's impossible. We then did the 'enter arena pop bubble' method with WoL and launched rockets like mad. We almost killed him but we were lacking that little bit of extra damage likely because of the low hunger dps. We also noticed that I think if a player dies somehow Qodron regents some health, anyone else see that? So basically we burned 3 + hours for nothing. Please bring a maxed rocket launcher with tracking and synth.

When I join games I'm playing to get it done and get my rewards. It gets done faster with gjallarhorns. Plain and simple.
-
Our team beat it, I burned the boss with hunger of crota and black hammer ascended... One guy ran shotgun jail breaker duty and the Ghorn guy cleared spawns, beat it 2nd go around after we got in sync... Good communication goes a long ways in these events... You don't just need Ghorns it can be done without

Edited by Lucacentric28: 5/30/2015 5:13:23 PMIt is difficult but doable once you get into a rhythm. I equipped Thunderlord in case our designated jailbreaker couldn't find an eye in time. Used my scout rifle and black hammer on boss. Guy working on ads helped with his gally when he could. Just take your time and play it safe. And spread out just enough so the boss' splash damage isn't hitting everyone at once.

The boss is easy. I've done it on two characters with non of use using Mics. Just go left to the back. Kill the eye, keep shooting Quodron until it says he's searching for targets. Shotgun the shields, repeat.
-
Lol it's easy. I only used Ghally on Solar burn and ran SGA the rest of the time.

Edited by RORYWAN13: 5/30/2015 2:23:37 PMIt's a useless load of BS. If you have absolutely nothing else to do for 6 hours go for it. But it's not entertaining and it's certainly not rewarding. Some of the worst game concept and design I've seen in a long time. This is supposed to be fun? Entertaining?
-
Not if you have SGA for Jailbreaking
-
Those people don't seem to play the game for fun. They are always so serious. Me and a friend carried a 33 Hunter through yesterday, and he was rocking the hunger (Max 331). Although, we did go down and he still had a sliver of health so I clutched it with my self res lol.
-
This is why I go out of my way to find legit ways to beat bosses and not just cheese it. I have a good way to beat 34 and 35 regardless the burns or modifiers. Yeah not as quick but its not dependent on easy mode which alot of people do because they aren't good enough. I hope bungie gives bosses a immune start timer so these strats die and people will be lost lol.

Edited by justin_giver: 5/30/2015 3:15:57 PMYeah just spent two hours again on just the boss. The tables are turned so much against guardians. Super is slow to activate, the key guy was forever hiding in Us We couldn't even get a shot on him. Not really a fan of the over difficult mobs either. It's just difficult for the sake of being difficult. Prob won't attempt it again this week. It's just not fun. I'll stick to farming 28 or 32 for the rep

Get the jail breaker buff and one shot gun mag frees everyone if you are close. Are you joking? Either you honestly suck or you're kidding.
-
We did it how it was intended, make one guy the jailbreaker, this guy should have a shotgun with full auto whenever, he traps you, the jailbreaker breaks the shield for all of you...
-
Did it yesterday with a 33 and 34 that was stuck on him for over 3 hours. I was the only Gjallarhorn. They had 331 Hungers. Tried spamming rockets from the start. Couldn't get his health past half with our firepower. So did the left strategy. Took about 10 tries. But once we got a pattern going we suceeded. Need great communication and weapons to get out of the shield. Two of us used shotguns. One used a vex myth. Hunters celestial nighthawk gg can one shot the shield.

Tried for 3 hours. Had to abort. Feel stupid now, cause I left joined a random trials team and went 9-0 in an hour. Got 3 etheric light to the one I would have received. Also got the Jewel of Osiris in arc. Plus 34 boots and awesome chest piece. Forget grinding the ridiculously hard. Play Trials for etheric light.
-
So true. Beat it last night with 2 Gally's and a unmaxed Truth, my Titan Bubble set to Blessings, and about 35 seconds.... Two L34 players and one 33....
-
Well...with iron banner selling light (most likely just one/two) at ranks 3/5, it'll be easy to get 6 if you play IB.
-
The boss is super easy. Just get someone with a decent shotgun to kill the detain and the other two shoot rockets after the detain breaks.
-
Lvl 34 is easy. Got the right hand side, in the curved area. One person with high impact LMG kills eye of qodron and the detainment shields. One person clears adds and hits the boss when available. One person focuses on the boss. Works every time.
-
Im 34 on all three characters with maxed 365 ghorns on each one. I dont even use if for that fight. I always take eye duty and I use hunger for adds and Icebreaker to break jails.
-
I did it on all 3 characters and 3 times with my Titan to get the elder chipher done this week all the runs were with randoms and we finished in around 25-35min each run. Was not hard lol
-
You should equip swordbreaker and get the jail breaker, once you get detained all huddle and spam the shotty, there u go if u do it this way it takes about 20min without any gallys I did it 4 times yesterday

Fluffy
Bapeieh - old
Second attempt with two 33's and no gjallys... -
Edited by qoslsnsmqaaksk: 5/30/2015 1:08:01 PMYou don't even need 1 Gjallarhorn...just 3 shotties.
