Give Everyone the Right to Participate in Trials of Osiris by Adding Matchmaking to this Elitist -blam!-fest

Give Everyone the Right to Participate in Trials of Osiris by Adding Matchmaking to this Elitist -blam!-fest. Just because my KD isn't over 1.0, doesn't mean I shouldn't have the right to participate in this activity in matchmade form. Limiting such a huge part of your gaming public is ludicrous Bungie. Please change it. When you have a game with 17 million players, and only 300 thousand participate in the event that is half of the entire expansion, then there is a problem. When you have half of the expansion content being the event, it should have been designed for a larger audience, otherwise participation will be very low, and instead time could have been better invested into making a mode that everyone could play in an easy manner. Add matchmaking so that a larger game population could participate in this glorious event. instead of only limiting it to hardcore players or completionists. edit: they can force communication for this activity, by making mics a requirement for trials

I wish they would give matchmaking for this Would make it even easier for me to continue to go 9-0 A lot more than 300k participated......it was only 300k that succeeded

    • So let's say you're k/d is 0.90. you get matchmade with people with a k/d of 0.4 And again you will complain at the forums then, because you lose :)

    • Agreed. What if I want to play trials but all of my friends are already partied up? Iron banner only comes once a month, the weekly heroic is restricted to a dlc I don't care to get for ps4, and unless I wanna be bored to death with poe 28, I am limited to pre-dlc content (by which I mean crucible... Because that's all there is). All of the arguments against trials having matchmaking can be rendered moot by one word and one word alone: "optional". *drops mic*

I don't see your point. It's end game content for Pvp players. Designed so that Pvp players could have more content as well. PvE only players have no need at all to do it. They don't belong in ToO. It's meant for "Elitist Scum" to have actual competition & get a reward for their hard earned victory You don't need a positive kd to get in you just need 2 friends. You don't need matchmaking because you only need 2 friends. Destiny is a social game. So I can't see how hard it is to find 2 players even with a bad kd. Kd aside, If you're so bad that you can't find 2 players you're probably only trying or going to get carried anyway and you take away from the challenge. Edit> you can't force anyone to use a mic and more than likely most of them won't use it either because they don't know you or they don't have 1 or some other reason

      • To all the Elitists commenting: if you want more activities of this nature and/or you want trials to continue on to destiny2 people have to play it. This seems pretty obvious to me, but people seem to struggle with this concept for some reason. Easiest solution to me is to have two ToO playlists. One w matchmaking (rewards would be a little less) and one with only premade fireteams (better rewards). This would also improve the competition for the hardcore players so you could brag even more about how good you are.

            • It isn't in the game because good pvp players don't want to have to carry and get weighed down by someone with a .37 k/d

              • And as for communication, when the match is made, you could just add a ready-up component to the matchmaking. If you don't like that the guy you've been matched with doesn't have a mic or whatever the case may be, press whatever button to re-enter matchmaking. Done and done.

              • When people try to make this argument that there shouldn't be matchmaking in trials, it makes me think back to ranked matchmaking in the halo games. There, your rank was based on your wins and could go down if you lost, it was the highest stakes thing in those games, similar to trials. Despite this, it had matchmaking. Team death match? Matchmaking. Doubles? Matchmaking. Sure, going in to ranked matchmaking with a pre-made team was the best idea but the option was always there if you wanted. That should be the case with trials.

                • Yeah, they can enforce the use of mics but they can't force that person to actually use the mic. This wouldn't work, everyone has their own way of doing things too. With something as tense as trails it'll just encourage flaming, just look at the league of legends community, it is known for having one the most toxic communities due to its competitive nature and also includes matchmaking. Imagine getting to 8-0 in trials only to be match made with some spiteful kid who thinks he's Johnny concrete, and then to have him charge off and completely wreck your run. I can only begin to imagine the unsavoury messages that would be sent his way once the game had finished...

Well if they're going to make mics a requirement for trials why not make 2 friends already being in your fire team a requirement (because those are already essentially the same requirement rolled into one). I've seen a lot of these posts demanding matchmaking for trials. Even if you made mics a requirement what's to stop your random match made teammates from eating chips in the mic, yelling when they die, having noise in the back ground, or just not talking at all? The point of making a pre made fire team a requirement is so everyone enters the trials as ready as they can be for some stiff competition. If "casual" players or crucible novices or whatever you want to call people who just aren't necessarily super good at pvp get match made with randoms who are the same or maybe even throw a pretty good player in there to try to carry and they face off against a well coordinated team of people who play together and communicate often it's going to be sheep to the slaughter every time. Even if you have one pretty good player trying to carry the other two, he/she can only do so much against 3 coordinated people when his/her team is just constantly dead or feeding the enemy (barring some outrageous mlg player who double backflip one shot no scopes the whole enemy team or whatever). The point is that the pre made fire team is a requirement so that the only people entering this particular pvp arena are either try hards or attempting to be try hards. If you could match make into a team of randoms the well coordinated kill squads are still going to be out there prowling around, you're just going to be more easy pickings for them. So if you want to be cannon fodder then by all means demand matchmaking. As for me, even if they add the option to match make I still wouldn't set foot in trials without 2 team mates to begin with. P.s. I've only been to the lighthouse once so I'm not some "elitist" who just wants to keep my special snowflake content to myself. Also, I'm pretty sure the lighthouse will be available to everyone come comet.

Everyone has the right to participate but within the guideline parameters-- find a premade fireteam that you trust, have a load out that synergizes, and somewhat of a strategy worked out before going in. Matchmaking makes it no different than a skirmish match with randoms which is quite possibly the most infuriating destiny experience ever. Teammates that lone wolf it against the enemy team and feed them supers, don't revive and pick up heavy by themselves. Yeah, the trials doesn't need that at all. It's easy enough for my fireteam to get to the lighthouse as it is. We would absolutely stomp you random matchmakers into oblivion. All we would see from you people that can't make friends is a different type of complaint. No matchmaking with premade teams. Random vs. random only. And some lame noob bs way to get to the light house would ensue.

                      • Since its end game content and most people go in as a group of 3. It's a gamemode based around communication with teammates. My trials team gets pissed if I don't communicate and then we lose

                      • I feel that Bungie never expected everyone to play Trials of Osiris. I'm not good at Crucible and I have not played Trials of Osiris. I do understand why it is the way it is. This game needed a way to separate those elite players from the rest. That's why they implemented the option to upgrade any legendary to the max. Even though specific items drop in the Trials only, you do not need those items to push the limit of your ability as a player in this game. Everyone has the option now to max out what they want. This game needed the Trials for those players who could set themselves apart from the average. It's like the Olympics, it's not for everyone, just the best. I understand that and I'm not one of the best so I may never get that gear or those weapons and I'm ok with that. I can live without a Gold Medal in the Trials of Osiris Olympics....lol.

                      • Questions for you, would you just match with 2 other randoms each round, because trials specifically matches you against new opponents each time. So do you get new teammates?
