New Idea: Ascend Subclasses

So, I know we're getting new subclasses with Comet, coming this fall, but tonight, I had a brilliant idea to extend the gameplay already in place and to come. Allow us to ascend our subclasses (possibly twice, to rare then legendary), doing so would reset perk progress for that subclass, from there I like one of two options. Option 1: The subclass gains a permanent bonus to all stats, say +1 or +2, (note I am referring to Armor, Recovery and Agility, which have hidden numeric values), I believe this would be fair even in Crucible, as it would require serious effort on the part of the player to retrain their subclass. Option 2: The player gains enhanced versions of their old (non Codex, Order, Path) abilities (grenades, melee, super, etc.), which have additional or more powerful effects, this would likely have to be Crucibalanced, or else removed entirely from crucible. EDIT: Suggestions and constructive criticism are welcome. The subclasses should also change name, I have 3-tier suggestions for each of the six standard ones, Warlock: Voidwalker --> Nebulastrider --> Darkwarper Sunsinger --> Lightherald --> Starcrafter Titan: Striker --> Knight --> Paladin Defender --> Vigilant --> Sentinel Hunter: Gunslinger --> Quickhand --> Trueshot Bladedancer --> Swordmaster --> Windshadow
