With some of the new perks and new stats on the vender guns I still find myself using old weapons. Biggest thing they changed was getting rid of field scout which makes many legendary machine guns less effective now. A lot of the middle perks now seem to take away and give as a pose to just give like before. Seems some weapons carry less ammo too. I have a sniper with same stats and perks as a sniper from old expansion but it only holds 18 rounds were as the other one holds 21.
I know some weapons have benefits now like scout rifles and assault rifles but others seem worse off.
Edit:
Seems a lot of people are upset about lose of field scout and new perks that add stats by taking away others. Casket mag sucks because it is no were near the amount field scout gave and it doesn't affect your reserve ammo like field scout.
Thanks for all the feed back guys!

Some of the base stats are just awful for these new guns. I'm waiting to get a decent amount of etheric light so I can upgrade my shadow price. Has field scout and feeding frenzy
-
I'm not too fond of the "do more damage while in the air" perk or something like that... I mean... Really? Really bungie??
-
CE or VoG weapons are certainly better than ToO and PoE weapons.
-
I really like my new high impact auto rifles. Of course I could never get a shadow price or vanquisher to drop with field scout. And also really like my full auto scout rifles.

Edited by x-MISANTHROPIC-x: 5/31/2015 9:52:34 PMNot just the weapons, the content was better back in vanilla as well. VOG vs PoE...no brainer.

Steel Oracle ftw

365 A.F19X-RYL with firefly rocks. Agree with you.
-
What I don't understand is the ability perks like shank burn or disable captains etc are located in the end of the skill tree. Why not have those abilities in the same location as hive/oracle disruptor and save that spot for something useful.
-
the new weapons are made so you have to reforge them. bungie wants you to play, farm, reforge and lvl up your guns so that it will keep their overall weekly online players statistic high enough.
-
The new weapons that drop from crucible are really good
-
The new guns are okay. Have you seen the btrd hmg or the up the Ante hand canon. Or the low-down auto rifle. The perks are new and needs adjusting to. Check the hand cannon on my hunter.

3words... Vision of confluence.

Another NICT: amazing

Yes. Older legendaries are better. I wish I held on to more of them.

They have a new Perk called extended magazine.

Edited by Ewing: 5/30/2015 4:40:10 AMCompare the Wolfs Bane to Thunderlord. My buddy just got this with a higher impact and the range reduction is completely negated by range-finder. I think of Bungie's weapon balancing is more like a salad with everything imaginable in it. Most of it is rotten or moldy. Occasionally you get a chunk of meat or shrimp. Old or new no one knows what is what in this game. It's not as if Bungie carefully deliberates on this stuff. They just do things and hope for the best.

No, all new weapons are shit in comparison to my old stuff. That's why I've broken every single new gun except for the sidearm, and the two elemental scout rifles I got from trials.
-
The golden era for weapons was Destiny vanilla and a few from TDB. Reforging has made the new HOW weapons obsolete on day 1.
-
Old weapons still drop - at least from faction/vanguard packages and have the old perks from what I can tell.
-
Because of reforging, only impact and range matters.
-
There are some gems floating around out there though-- I hate shotguns, but Her Courtesy has changed my mind. But for the most part, I agree with you.
-
So true all these new guns are crap.lol no elemental dmg (poe guns) crap perks (snipers with extra dmg to dregs) WTF.lol and all I keep getting is auto rifles with low mags which bungie made unusable
-
I love that the vault of glass gear and weapons are making a comeback. It reminds me of the first 150 pokemon. Their just better
-
I couldn't agree with more. The perks were better, the looks were better, the guns were just better. Instead now if we want increased stability we have to sacrifice max size. My PvE load out hasn't changed in 3 months. Fatebringer, LDR, Gally. Same goes for my PvP, last word, judgement, and against all odds. It's kinda sad. The weapons, all be it cool and new looking, just don't have that beauty like they use to. It's a shame
-
Totally agree, I've dismantled nearly all the new legendary weapons, I tried them out then thought I already have a better one.

Vision of Confluence na Fate bringer are still the best primaries for PVE
