I've managed to find a way to get outside/underneath the map on Venus right next to the entrance of the Vault of Glass. The most interesting thing about this outside map experience is that you can actually see part of the inside of the VoG. I'm thinking if you load up the VoG with your raid team and one of you jumps outside to this area then you can have a clear view if anything spawns (like a 6th chest or something) as you'll have a broader view.
