Ok Guardians I'm a below average Crucible player. Don't play much pvp maybe a few bounties every now and then. I'm about to enter my first IB. And would like your help with Load outs tips/tricks and generally anything you can help me with.
Thanks!
Edit:
Well Guardians I did it I made IB rank 5. Sunday afternoon. Thank you for all your help! I bought all the gear/weapons and shaders. I even topped a few tables now and then with a K/D of .80 and a best game of 20 kills.
Cheers!!!

1)Look at the radar. The darker shade of red indicates that your opponent is on the same verticality as you are. The lighter shade of red shown on your radar indicates that he is above or below you. 2) Crouching will briefly make you invisible on your enemies radar. Use it when getting perused to gain advantage. 3)Fire while strafing and aim for head shots. 4)Sniper rifles takes 2 shots to kill unless you have the "Final round perk" or head shots. Armor piercing rounds will go through the first opponent and damage any one behind him. (useful for C camp on Shores of time) 5)Melee after you fire shot gun to confirm kill. 6)You get 100 per kill for every objective you have. 50 points if you have no objectives. 300 points in you have triple caped. Save your ultimate for when it will make a difference when used.(i.e:When enemy team is going to cap a flag) 7)Don't push into enemy spawn when you have 2 flags caped and them trapped.(THIS IS FUKING IMPORTANT).

Know going into it that if you're running a group of randoms, chances of slaughter are high. Particularly if you're a below average crucible player. Try to team up with friends. Communication is probably the most important thing, before load outs and all that other fun jazz.

Dude I'm a strictly pve player, but iron banner is so much fun. Better than end game in pve imo. Just get in there preferably with people you know and have fun. What's the worst that could happen?
-
I too am going to seriously try iron banner. My kd. is always under 1.0. What system you on? Maybe we could team up and SUCK together

Just play like it is normal crucible. Visit Lord Salad first and get the stuff from him. Equip his stuff and it becomes easier. Then just slow down during the match, get familiar with the maps. I learned that I play better sticking to one area of the map as opposed to running all around it. Then find a gun that works for you. My first IB I used the stranger's rifle and it worked for me. Last just have fun.

When you get killed, please don't be a crybaby about and post here on the forums nerfing this.

Edited by Force58: 4/26/2015 12:09:18 PMYou can't get any worse than my k/d avg of .68 during the last IB, which was my first as I mainly play the story, strikes, etc. I had motivation though to get my first level 32, my Hunter. I ran bladedancer mainly and used only a few weapons, red death and TLW primary and a secret handshake shotty. I used a harms way machine gun to round things out. Managed to win a bit better than 50 percent of the games and got to level 5 by Sunday. Midway through I got Suros regime and started using it and had good luck. Just use whatever weapon you're most comfortable with and really concentrate on taking control of the zones. You'll rank up fast if you maintain at least a 50 percent win rate. Don't forget to buy the IB piece for 1 mote of light that gives you a bonus for xp for 12 hours and then buy/equip the banner/shader you get at levels 1-3 to gain even more xp per round. Good luck!

Edited by ILyncher: 4/26/2015 12:58:51 PMMake sure your lvl 32 or close to it,have your armour stat maxed.use weapons that are fully maxed to 331.if your a first timer I would suggest a few worthy weapons- Primary: the last word, hawkmoon, multi tool, universal remote, over soul eddict, three little words, time on target. secondary:felwinters, found verdict, longbow synth, ldr 5001. Heavy:truth, hunger, gally, jolders hammer, against all odds. Most important part, play with at least a 3 man team or more, teamwork and communication is king.

Edited by MaZteRmINd: 4/26/2015 1:04:07 PMI don't know what you have in your vault but generally: Primaries: Thorn The last word Hawkmoon(ps) Red death Bad juju Vex mythoclaust Occasionally, I see a Universal Remote and Suros Regime Secondary: Any legendary shotty or sniper with good perks such as a shotgun with hammer forged and shot package or a sniper with outlaw/spray n play and final round. In fact, the vanguard vendor, ironically, has a great shotgun for PvP. Heavy: Really up to you. The crucible vendor has the Valedictorian which has excellent PvP perks. Truth, hunger of crota, and gjallerhorn are the ones to use though because of the perks, especially Truth. I've dodged gjallerhorn shots but Fukn Truth gets me everytime. If your into lmgs, a good lmg should have decent range and stability. Low range and stability will mean your shots arent reaching the opponent and you're shooting around them. I don't know what you have but if you need one, go with the crucible vendor Against All Odds. The perks aren't worth getting excited for however the slow fire rate, range and stability are great making it easy to stay on target and get headshots.

Use your vertical space (when someone runs at you jump up) as you get killed by shotguns less.
-
-Nightfall doesn't affect iron banner rep -Use a Maxed out Weapon (Not an auto rifle) -Do the Bounties, they are the easiest way to rank up -If your team has two control points, DON'T touch the third one. -Wear the shader, emblem, and class item from Saladin -Buy the medallion everyday -Most importantly, have fun, it is pretty much the exact same thing as regular crucible control.
-
And you're gonna get frustrated. My advice is when you quit having fun or you're starting to get pissed and frustrated, back out and go do something else. Just go easy, and try not to get too flustered.

Edited by hapPENIS: 4/26/2015 12:56:20 PMJust buy the tempered buff and do the bounties and stop for the first few days. You barely get rep anyways. Best to wait until the last few days to grind out the rest. You can get burnt out on lag-banner quickly
-
Spam the last word and Felwinters lie if you need assistance, not great crucible player
-
Here's some basics you need to do before you start iron banner. -Make sure you do the nightfall asap. -Use all of your favorite max weapons you own -Each time you get a emblem, shader or class item in the iron banner, equip it. It will allow you to get the most out of your bounties and end game xp. -Have fun, IB may be frustrating at times, but if you get a group of friends iron banner won't feel so hard.
-
Best advice. Work your way up slowly to earn the class item, shader and emblem and do the bounties each day. Use the tempered boost as well. Wait til Saturday to do heavy grinding as the boost is almost double what you would normally get. Also TLW, hawkmoon, thorn are your friends. Regardless of what people say, those are currently some of the best weapons (red death and vex too) right now and IB is gona be filled with it. If you can't beat em join em.
-
Main weapons people use: Thorn The Last Word Red Death (as of 1.1.2) Felwinter's Lie Counter: keep your distance (Thorn and Red Death can still own from a distance) or learn to juke bullets.

Play with a team if you can, and try to not take it too seriously and have fun with it. Buy and equip the emblem, shader and class item as soon as you can, they all provide an XP bonus while you're playing Iron Banner. You're generally going to play against a lot of teams in Iron Banner, against people who know the game and use the best/cheapest weapons and tactics. So just be ready for that. Also, through the buffs and such, you're going to get the most rep bonuses late in the event, like in the last day or two before the reset. So don't panic thinking you gotta grind away and play like hell to make it to whatever level you want. It's pretty easy to max your Iron Banner level out well before the reset.

Edited by Bromking: 4/26/2015 12:41:00 PMThere is plenty of time to reach rank 5 bro so don't worry. I stuck with my first iron banner in the last one and got my hunter to rank 5 and my titan to rank 4 and that was because i stopped at 4. Get the class item shader and emblem as soon as you can and buy the daily buff with mote of light. Do the bounties each day and remember if you lose u still get an iron token which when you win boosts ur xp and that stacks 5 times. Good luck bud the last banner netted me 2 ib scout rifles , the ib shotty , ib ship , dragons breath and thunderlord and i bought jolders. Thats a big bag of loot man and i saw heaps given to other guardians. Stick with it and shoot straight :)

I played the last one using Thorn, Praedith's Revenge, and Swarm. TTK seemed no different vs. higher or lower leveled opponents, so don't hesitate to equip a 300 weapon if its something that you're really comfortable with. Also, don't let the way that the event is presented intimidate you. Iron Banner pulls in a lot of players who don't regularly play PvP. The talent pool is a bit shallower than it is in everyday Crucible. Get the Nightfall done early in the week, buy the 12 hour buffs, complete as many of the bounties as you can, and purchase emblem, class item, and shader as you reach the requisite rank. I picked away at it, mixing it up with other game activities, and hit rank 4 by Sunday.

Just enjoy it.

Edited by Vysi: 4/26/2015 12:13:13 PMTop 3 primaries are The Last Word, Thorn and Red Death. Learn to counter them A shotgun or fusion rifle are the most popular special weapons due to map layouts. Sniping is only feasible in a couple maps. The most underestimated thing about PvP is map awareness. Before IB starts, go practice in normal Crucible to learn the maps and ammo spawns. It's very difficult to do well if you don't know the map, my scores are significantly lower on the DB maps than in the standard maps.

Buy and wear everything IB. Emblems and shaders. Do the nightfall for the xp boost. Do the IB bounties. Thorn, the last word, invective, and red death. Walk dont run. Patience is key. IB LASTS 7 DAYS.
