You do not want Raid Matchmaking.

Tldr: When you ask for mm what you actually want is a lfg system. Stop asking for matchmaking in raids. What the game needs is an in game LFG system. Go to the DestinyLFG site and look how it's setup. You can find groups or make a group for anything in the game, including raids! Now imagine that actually in the game itself. THAT is a feature worth posting ad nauseum over. There's no good reason to want raid mm over a lfg system. The lfg would be just as fast or faster, and mitigates or completely circumvents the problems mm would have. Update: please note I'm not simply denying people a wanted feature. I'm suggesting an alternative feature that works better to accomplish the goal of having an easier way to find people to play with.

  • Ideally both, lfg systems are good but can result in some people being left hanging. So yeah I'd go with an LFG system if I could only have 1 but both would be best case.

How big would this LFG system be? If it's just the amount of people sharing the world (how many is that 12 or something?), then you are going to be very limited in your choices. If it's the same amount of people who would be using a match making system, I could see it taking a long time wading through all those players to put together a team you are happy with. So it's either a smaller pool of players or a nightmare worse than finding raiders on a message board.

    • It's a good idea. I thought I wanted a raid finder, but you make a good point. I can't stand doing all the work when I get two random people that don't try to contribute. That's a downside, but on the other hand don't have that problem often enough to leave it out entirely.

    • I think the reason they didn't have match making in the first place is for 3 reasons: 1. To keep you wasting time, making it more difficult to get a full team together, making raid gear that much harder to get\ upping its value. 2. To nudge the player community closer together. Despite the crappy raid teams, Ive never been helped out more by total strangers in a game, than i have in Destiny. 3. Matchmaking would take forever and would make matchmaking for other playlists take longer as well. In gtaV its a real problem, especially when people leave mid search. People would also be more inclined to leave mid game, cuz they know they can get a new full team through matchmaking.

As long as you can turn it off im not fussed. Would i ever use it? Possibly, i like the idea of lfg though at least you have some idea of who's going to make up your team. Plus, everyone on LFG has made an effort to get on there and get involved in a raid. MM would just encourage 'floaters' people just in it for a look with no real intention of getting it done. Any more than 1 of these people in your fireteam you're gonna have a hard time getting a completion

            • There should be a way to type a little note of activities you're looking to accomplish. That way when your friends are browsing though their rosters and they hover over your name they can see that you're looking to do Crota HM fresh or VoG Atheon Cp or NF/WH x3. Seriously this would make things a lot easier

              • (Nearly) No one who has ever actually completed a raid would ever dream matchmaking would be a good idea. For the most part, those asking for it have no idea what they are asking for.

                  • This is more reason matchmaking should only be optional. Current LFG outside the game wastes time. An in-game system to post raid availability and basic stats would be ideal but we are not likely to see this until this game is current -gen system only on my opinion.

                    • All I'd like is the ability to decide to play a Raid and get put into a group of Guardians (randoms or otherwise) similar to how Strike matchmaking works. Currently, I either have to beg strangers on the Tower or coax my friends to reinstall Destiny to play Raids. So far, neither works. I could join a group, but I don't want add strangers to my friends list just to remove them later. I can also see why clans/groups of friends would hate matchmaking too. No-one wants their Raid ruined by the one guy who randomly joins and wrecks the whole run. So how about when selecting to start a Raid, if there's free space in the fireteam, the game asks if you want to enable public matchmaking. Choosing to not use matchmaking effectively sets your fireteam to private until the fireteam returns to orbit. The matchmaking could even skew so players who have beaten the raid once are more likely to be matchmade with those who have already done it before as well. This solutions allows lonely sods like me to have the opportunity to try to beat the raid and clans/friends can still raid privately without raid-scrubs messing things up. This solution could also be applied to Daily Story missions and Nightfall Strikes, which also lack matchmaking of any kind.

                      • The option is all alot of people are asking for. And an option wouldn't effect the hard core raiders.

                      • No, I want match making... Not LFG. With LFG, you are at the mercy of those who are raiding and if they don't want you, you don't raid... So no, no, no LFG... Optional match making is what I want. There can also be a LFG thing but match making first.

                        • honestly... this game has about a 6 month shelf life left to it. you might as well make the game accessible. Once games like witcher 3 and the division drop its over. secondly the ppl raiding weekly with a core group are the same ones saying the general population doesnt know what they are asking for/getting themselves into. who cares!! matchmaking doesnt affect you at all!! you have your group and can run the raids like clockwork. keep on doing that. if ppl want matchmaking because they are ready for a challenge but are stuck because their destiny friends list shrinks faster than a dick in cold water. let them play the game they bought! this game doesnt have enoigh content to put up walls at the end and funnest part of the game.

                          • Wanna play with people that are - afk - leave if you have to wipe the first time - have no mic - are level 30 in a hard CE raid - are trolling by not killing themself if you have to wipe but you can not kick them since its matchmaking Add matchmaking and you can experience this all! Thats why bungie is NOT adding matchmaking into raids.

                            • I'm against Raid MM. But if they implement it, it damn well be OPTIONAL! And have requirements! 1. Be at least minimum level -26 for VoG normal, 30 for VoG hard, etc 2. Must have mic. 4-6 people with no mics = epic fail 3. Some sort of checkpoint selector. Don't want to start fresh only to come in at gatekeeper or vice versa. And would only be accessible if u have gotten to said cap (to avoid exotic chest spam/farming)

                                  • A LFG system would be great, but I think it would be too much work for Bunjie. They would be more likely to put mm in it, which would still be an improvement. Another idea: how about making mm an option for other stuff. Maybe you just want to run a strike by yourself so you can do what you want without some random prick getting impatient and punching you in the face for several minutes because you are not playing it as fast as humanly possible.
