The Great Invasion Part One (UPDATED VERSION)

-The Northern Wall, Watchtower 86, 6:45 PM- A Titan Guard scans the grounds below one last time to make sure no hostile forces are present. She spots a lone Dreg, and picks up her sniper rifle. She positions herself to fire and aims for its head. The Dreg sees her laser pointer and turns to run, but the Titan blow its head clean off and ether seeps out of its neck. She picks up her radio transmitter and reports all that transpired during her watch to Commander Zavala. Zavala asks her, "Did you see any more Fallen, Guardian?" The Titan Guard responds: "All clear. No more Fallen activity, sir." Zavala responds with "Great, let's keep it that way. You are dismissed. You may return to the Tower when you are ready. There is another Titan ready to take your post." And with that, Zavala signed off, and so did the Titan Guard. The Titan bolted her sniper rifle to her back and then exited the watchtower. On her way through the wall, she saw her fireteam leader, a Hunter nicknamed "Falcon" for his excellent marksmanship. Falcon nodded to her and said "Good night to you, Sapphire. Take care of yourself out there." She nodded back to him and kept walking around the wall. She finally saw the exit and walked outside. Once outside, she took her helmet off to get some fresh air. She sat down on the ground and looked around. She was outside of the safety of the city. She saw a flash of blue light for a split-second, and looked around again. She saw nothing. She returned to watching the sunset from a ledge. Once it was dark, she finally picked up her helmet and put it back on. She started walking back to the wall. However, the whole way, she felt as if she was being observed. Then, as she was about to enter the wall again, it happened. She heard the undeniable sound of a Fallen Wire Rifle, and felt an extreme pain emanating from her chest. She looked down to see a hole in her abdomen, and tried to pull out her ghost. It was gone. They had either destroyed it or taken it. She turned around to see a Fallen Captain lowering the Wire Rifle. She saw that the Captain was leading a team of 8 Vandals and 4 Dregs, but they were crouching, as if to hide themselves. Their capes were foreign to her, as she had not encountered or heard of this Fallen House. She instinctively reached for her sidearm, the Hawkmoon, and pulled it out. She aimed down the sight of her Hawkmoon while grasping her chest and took two Vandal's heads off and fired into the chest of one Dreg, causing it to collapse into pieces. She saw the Captain slowly edge towards her, and as he crept his way closer to her, she felt her legs getting weaker. She was losing too much blood. When he got close enough to stab with a knife, she collapsed on the ground and looked up at the Captain. The Captain was aiming his Wire Rifle at her head. She tried firing at the Captain, but she was out of rounds. As his finger tightened around the trigger, everything went black. As she drifted into unconsciousness, she thought she heard the sound of her fireteam leader's close quarters weapon—the Hard Light—emanating from a point just next to her. Then she heard nothing else. -The Tower, Emergency Hospital, Iron Banner Sector, 9:31- Sapphire awoke to the sound of a ship docking at the hangar. She looked down at her chest, and immediately looked back up. It looked as if the Captain had stabbed her chest with his cutlass. Looking around, Sapphire said, "Is anyone there?" She heard some rustling outside and saw her fireteam leader, Falcon, step in. He said to her "You barely survived that encounter. Shaxx and Zavala are not going to be happy about this. We may very well have a second Twilight Gap on our hands. Oh, I almost forgot. Here, you might want this." He laid her Hawkmoon down next to her and looked at her chest. "Next time, check your surroundings." And with that he left the room. She sat up and strapped her Hawkmoon to her belt. She then started to heal up the hole in her chest with her light so that it would not be too noticeable. Then she walked out into the Tower and immediately saw some Warlocks looking at her. She had a big reputation in the Tower. However she walked right by them. They knew her. They had heard about what happened earlier and they nodded to her. Everyone in the Tower seemed weary and nervous of the Fallen presence at the walls. Even Eris Morn seemed to be teeming with nervousness. Sapphire knew Eris did not want to be trapped in some Fallen ship for years only to escape later and be seen by many as a freak. She nodded to Eris and said, "It won't happen again, Eris. I'll make sure of it." Eris looked at her and seemed to relax slightly. Eris nodded to her and then continued to study her orb of hive-green light. She walked to the Speaker and talked with him about what happened earlier. After she finished her conversation with the speaker, she went to Zavala. She spoke with him about what had actually occurred earlier, as he had heard but rumors. He nodded to Sapphire and immediately transcended into nervous behavior. He did not want Twilight Gap to happen again and neither did Shaxx. However, Saladin hadn't been informed but when he is, he will rush to the tower as fast as he can to train Guardians in the fiery fields of the Iron Banner before another Twilight Gap occurs. She finished speaking with Zavala and he nodded to Sapphire as she went to bring the news to Shaxx, who was listening in on Crucible battles from his radio transmitter. She nodded to him and saw him turn the transmitter off and stand up. Shaxx was trained by Saladin and Zavala and the Iron Lords, and he had a lot to show for it. He was massive and was missing one of his horns—his battle scar from Twilight Gap. Sapphire was a Crucible Master and every time she went in to battle in the crucible, he listened in. He thought very highly of her. She finally gave him the news of the attack earlier and showed him her wound. He put his hand on her shoulder and said to her "We will find your ghost, and stop this Fallen threat to the city forever. That is a fact." He looked at Arcite-9 —His last functional battle frame— and Arcite said "Sir, I would be willing to go back into battle out there. However, we must produce more battle frames before another battle happens again." Shaxx responded "That we do, and I think it is time to return to the battlefield as well, the Crucible can wait." Sapphire watched as Shaxx walked back to his radio transmitter and reported what he had just heard to Saladin and in every battlefield in the Crucible. When he finished, he walked back to Sapphire and said, "We will push these Fallen back to their home at a later time, but now you must rest. Saladin is on his way and the Crucible is closing to deal with the problem of the Fallen on the other side of those walls." He motioned towards a back room that she had not seen previously. "You can rest in there." Shaxx said, then with that final statement, he returned to his work, beginning the production of thousands of battle frames. Sapphire walked into the room and saw many rows of bunks. She knew right away that this was the Crucible barracks. The Vanguard had one as well, however it was only used when the Vanguard select Guardians to strike a specific area in many numbers, such as when the Vanguard tried to destroy Crota with Eris Morn's fireteam but failed. She removed her armor, then chose a bunk and drifted into unconsciousness. -END OF PART ONE- Part Two http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post?id=110432829
