There's a logo smack-dab in the center of the footage, but I think it's pretty easy to tell what's going on. It's not graphic or anything, just a lot of loud noise and confusion.
The wrestler is Pedro Aguayo Ramirez, he died either immediately after being kicked by Rey Mysterio(which is kind of why this jumped out at me) or was just put in critical condition and passed away later on in the hospital.
But, yeah, I had a phase when I was younger where I watched wrestling pretty frequently, mainly WWE stuff. I don't really have any interest in it anymore but the fact that it was Rey Mysterio just kinda grabbed me, back then he was my favorite of the bunch. I know that this stuff is all staged, but talk about really, really bad accidents. He was supposed to kick the dude, he does, and the guy dies.
From what I saw, I think they pick up that something is horribly wrong fairly quickly, but Mysterio and Red Mask Guy(don't know his stage name) just throw the match as quickly and as believably as possible so the professionals on hand could handle the situation. Might not be 100% accurate but it's just inference from the video.

You can't fake wrestling. Sure you can script it. Yeah, you can have the winner pre-determined. But you can't fake getting sent directly through a table, nor being hit with a chair, nor being thrown off a ladder. They need these guys to be on that show twice a week, so you can't go ahead and break their spines with a baseball bat. As for Pedro, Jesus Christ, that is just ridiculous. And now the only reason Lucha Underground has gained any attention is because a guy died. Just like everything else.

Edited by Weincruz215: 3/31/2015 2:00:56 PMThis might help. Gives a good description of his death. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perro_Aguayo_Jr. Edit: it's acting weird for me, but hope others can read it. Edit 2: found this article. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/6915988

Drop the whole "WWE is fake" shit. People figure that out for their own around the time they discover Santa's not real. Someone's dead for the sake of being a little kids hero. If you're over 12 and still have some vendetta against WWE for betraying you then go cry somewhere else.

I wish this happened more often. I'd start watching more.

Looks like his neck was broken from the whiplash. What sucks is he may have survived the initial break but all the shaking of his body and head by the idiots that got to him before the medics may have been what finished him off. Never move and shake an unconscious casualty without first stabilizing the head and neck to prevent further injury.

I don't see how he died when all of these fights are staged anyways...

Heard about this the day it happened. Rey was getting death threats because people thought he killed Pedro on purpose but that clearly was an accident. There had to have been something wrong with Pedro that day and him landing on the ropes must have been the final blow. Accidents in wrestling are some of the most deadly things that can happen to the wrestlers while performing. I feel bad for Rey. He lost Eddie Guerrero who passed away and then now he has to go through this. If I was in Rey's shoes, I don't know what I would do at this point.

That's really sad.

That's kinda sad

Think it was the whip flash ( no idea how to spell it ) when he went on the second rope and it snapped his neck. Some also say rey drop kicked him in the neck and that caused it

Edited by Smarkdow: 3/30/2015 8:18:23 PMYeah, I heard about that, and I watched a video of it happening. My condolences go out to Perro Aguayo Jr. and his family. And I feel really bad for Rey. The dude just got out of WWE, was rejuvenated and about to start wrestling again, and then this tragedy happens. Apparently, he's contemplating retiring after what happened. It's a shame. It just goes to show, despite being scripted, how dangerous wrestling is. One slip up, one mistake, and a career could end, or worse. The people who perform every week have a shit ton of my respect for putting their bodies and lives on the line in order to entertain us.

Thats messed up. Absolutely no fault of Reys though, that was a routine kick, you see those every single match. All the same, the poor guys gotta be torn up by that. Thats awful 😯

I was never a big wrestling fan but I do remember that name. God, he must feel awful.... :'/
