Playable Cryptarch faction: A non-combat focused faction for PvE

I'm just shooting from the hip here on this one. The crypto-archaeologist faction is trying to understand the history of the Fall, the Golden Age and possibly even about the Traveler itself. A new way to look at the world of Destiny would be as a member of the crypt-archaelogist focused Guardian, your job would be to increase the knowledge of the faction and the tower itself. Rather than focus on the ultimate forms of combat, and spend your time on increasing your gear and light level, you would try to learn more about the worlds in Destiny, by exploring as much of the areas as you can and bringing back as much data on our enemies as possible. In Destiny current-gen, would be awesome if there were more patrol missions and public events that related to the Cryptarch faction, and a way for you to join that faction to increase your rep through those missions. - Maybe some kind of "exploration" points for getting to a number of waypoints on every world that are difficult to get to, but you could use stealth, or speed rather than fighting to get to each one. - Some extra bonus drops from finding all grimoire cards with a faction mark equiped? - Maybe some certain specific places could only be reached if you are in this faction. I.e. some specific location in the Archives on Venus so that you can do research there which might tell the player some new unknown facts about Destiny lore that they can then share out of game (Meta). Then in future iterations of Destiny, you could expand the Crypt-archs into a kind of support-role class. Who instead of being the strongest in a fight might be able to gain other abilities (Just brainstorming here) - A kind of map ability to see where to go, or to see where enemies and allies may be on the map. - In certain kinds of strikes or raids, you would be an ally that would need to perform some kind of task like decrypt some data in an old computer system (basically you would need to do something, rather than just deploy a ghost), while your non-Crypto-archs would have to defend enemies. - Maybe you could gain the ability to decrypt engrams in a mission directly, for yourself or your fireteam. - A hacking enemy communications / enemy technology skill where you could provide misinformation to enemies to make them go the wrong direction, or fight amongst themselves as a distraction - Certain Crypt-arch specific shaders, emblems, maybe armor? - Maybe restrict to certain weapons types only as a nerf since you are more intellectually focused than battle-prepared Nothing would stop you from maxing out your gear like other classes or factions, but it would provide another way to interact with the game world for those who enjoy the discovery / lore side for those who don't care so much about the level grinding to get to 32 only (or maybe something else to do once you've reached 32). What are your thoughts?
