This week's nightfall is The Will of Crota (Omnigul) with the following modifiers
-Epic
-NIghtfall
-Arc Burn
-Lightswitch
-Angry
I'll be using the following
-Fang of ir yut (Arc scout)
-Light of the abyss (Arc fusion rifle)
-Thunderlord (Arc machine gun)
Heroic has the following modifiers
-Heroic
-Arc Burn
Same setup as nightfall.
I'm not going to enjoy doing this... Will give it a few attempts, put up thoughts and vid asap, etc. etc.
This nightfall.. is a pain to solo. It's no doubt the longest nightfall to solo just because of the way the boss fight is. Arc burn doesn't really help at all for this either, as nearly everything does arc damage. The combination of lightswitch and arc burn make all melees a one hit kill. This is because most of the melees are charged with arc damage, so you're screwed. I'll put a list of what does arc damage at the bottom.
Anyways, at the beginning of this nightfall, I stay back near the stairs so I have a place to retreat and funnel the enemies so I can spray them down. The first wave of reinforcements involves a few shanks and invisible melee vandals, stay back and take them out as they charge you. After a few waves the hive joins the fight, I let them clear the fallen because I'm lazy, and the hive will win. When the hive win, you'll know because you won't hear any bullets being fired, that's your cue to step in and wipe the hive, then wait for another wave of hive and some fallen. Let the hive win, kill the hive, then a last wave of fallen will spawn and you can run past them or take them out. In general, be cautious of the stray bullets that seek you around corners from fallen, and always keep note of where the boomers are.
In the next area, you may have to watch out for shanks and invisible vandals spawning inside the room. This happens twice at most, after that you should be relatively safe. Alongside that, you'll have several snipers outside watching the door, one of them will be above you, and lots of captains and dregs around. Once the skiffs start coming in and dropping off, about 6 of these will come in one after the other. Avoid them at all costs and then clear the snipers first then pick off what you want. Remember, the floor is lava as there will be several major stealth vandals and they will one hit you.
In the next area, you'll have to tackle on wave after wave of thralls, acolytes, and knights. You'll also have to take out two wizards and an ogre. Much fun is to be had in this room, you'll have to also watch out for a sneaky boomer knight very high up along with the other 5 or so on the floor. This area is also where acolyte boomers spawn, so keep an eye out for them. Slowly clear the area, then move up to start the fight with omnigul.
This boss fight is basically just hit and run. Use an arc launcher with tracking or proximity or fire with thunderlord after clearing the room. Cursed thralls will spawn in the room and a boomer will appear outside and above one of the doors. Thralls and knights will run into you and some will stay back and bombard you with boomers. Wizards will spawn every 25% of omnigul's health along with another round of enemies. Whwnever she screams, that indicates that she's spawning more enemies and you should fall back and take care of them before focusing on omnigul again. Repeat this process till Omnigul dies and be careful of the bombardment from wizards and boomers.
Good luck, Guardians! You'll need it.
Arc damage enemies:
Fallen:
Dreg melee, pistols, grenades.
Vandal melee, snipers, rifles.
Captain melee, rifles.
Shanks.
Skiffs (ships).
Hive:
Thrall melee
Cursed Thrall explosions
Acolyte boomer.
Knight melee, boomers.
Wizards arc blast.
That's quite a bit of arc damage. Consider that there's half a metric shit ton of only these enemies, some vandals are invisible, and wizards love to spam their attacks, and you die a little inside.
Share what you got and what you'll be using below. Always interesting to see how people play.

Edited by DaoFerret: 3/17/2015 4:18:18 PMThe arc damage isn't bad except the Wizards and the boomer Knights. The Lightswitch is more of a problem in the first room when the thralls and stealths run in. Between Arc damage and Lightswitch this are one hit kills (as are the Knight swords). Long range fire though, unless everything is targeting you or you have to deal with the rapid-fire of Boomer Knights or Wizards is survivable for a hit or two (at 31 at least). Be careful when Omnigul is ALMOST down. She spawns one last wave when she is almost dead. If you time it right though, and are emptying enough damage into her, you can bring her down in the time it takes the wave to spawn and target you. One run I got it right and cut the run shorter (since we didn't have to clean out that final wave first), one run I got it wrong and ran dry on my Thunderlord just before she was dead, at which point I was swarmed and died just outside the room (leaving my Fireteam to clean out the swarm a bit before picking me up). As for loadout: Fang or Ir Yut Fellwinter's Lie (Arc, Hammer-Forged, Shot Package) (was fun to run out the front door by Omnigull, jump up and kill the boomer over the door. Sometimes needed a medic. The red bars were one shot, the yellows, two ... which is more problematic for Fellwinter's, during a jump :) ) Thunderlord

Edited by GalaxyGuardian: 3/19/2015 4:26:58 PMKill all adds...titan goes under bridge while the other two draw her attention...titan jumps onto platform and uses bubble with helm of saint blinding ability right under her. the titan and one other jumps up there and blasts her with found verdicts...done before she calls the first reinforcments! (the third character can stay on that ledge in the previous room..if something goes wrong and the two outside die..return to orbit, and rejoin and be alive!) ((thats how I did it..twice!)) and i also got shards and energies...BOTH TIMES!! no weapons..no armor...nothing else..used Praedith's Timepeice, Found Verdict, and Hunger

A lot of people are mad about not being able to do the Nightfall, but Omnigul is a gigantic pain in the arse, so you people, are not missing out on anything. Except an exotic, maybe.
-
I use those guns too
-
A second Suros Regime, 12 coins, and 9 energy. Used Oversoul Edict, Patience and Time, and Song of Ir Yut.
-
I got a legendary engram for my reward (is this common?) The engram turned into 2 energies. Needless to say I was pissed

Non-DLC owners have been screwed out of the nightfall content 50% of the time since December. This only goes to show that the DLC isn't DLC, but a forced subscription.
