If you look back into Abraham's time the sacrifice to push sin back was by sacrificing the purest lamb and that only worked for one year. So fast forward to Jesus time then you will see that Jesus is the Lamb of God which indicates that Jesus was pure and faultless which means his blood would be required for our salvation because under the blood of the Jesus (aka the Lamb) our sins are washed away and we have salvation.
