Montage clips question

Ok, so I'm throwing together a montage (this will be my first montage ever).
I made one a while ago back when I was 13 - 14 and Halo 3 was the biggest in competitive except back then I used a shitty $20AU video camera I got from ALDI.
So I have spent some time on share factory (PS4 video editing) cutting the clips and I'm going to transfer them to my PC and use sony vegas on it, here are some things I want to know. 1. I've seen montages where clips don't fit in with this music and it makes me angry but they seem to show a lot of support, do you (everyone reading this) feel like its necessary or just something optional to make it look better? I could but I don't have a lot of time on my hands, doing something like this was cut down on my free time all together. 2. With clip quality (not video quality) I have some doubles, triples, supers and random hilarious kills but where is the line drawn for whether or not a clip is worthy to be put into a montage? People have montages with single snipes and they looked like lightning fast epic kills but are these types of clips worthy? I want to know this so maybe I could cut down on some of my clips and spend the next month recording for those epic moments. 3. Is 720p ok? Because I used the PS4 to record as I cannot afford a capture card or can be bothered to say the least, my video only goes to 720p. 4. With 9 minutes of footage (probably cut down to 6 - 8 minutes after editing), how long should my intro be? I'm thinking ten seconds or twenty, definitely not going to be a minute or more like some of these stupid videos you see. 5. Is heavy metal ok? I'm wanting to use some hardcore and metalcore music in my montage, though I feel this could deter the majority of the community from watching the video all together. I like all music genres so I could go and use some happy hardcore or drum n bass... your thoughts?

 • 1. syncing gun shots separates the good from the great montages. it's not necessary, but it definitely makes a difference 2. it should entertaining for others I guess ;) 3. yep 4. keep it short! also it might depend on your song selection. 6-8 minutes sound long to me. why don't you start with a shorter montage, like 1 song? 5. choose for yourself and not for others. in the end you can't satisfy everybody's taste.
