When Dungeons were simpler (everything from Warlord's Ruin and before) the solo dungeon clear was a tough, but not unreasonable challenge for the Dungeon Titles and Guardian Rank 11
With Dungeon complexity now being comparable to Raids since Vesper's Host and Sundered Doctrine, this requirement is starting to feel more difficult than the Master clears and challenges for Raid titles.
It's not the biggest deal in the world, but if I'm confident I can get Master Raid challenges done with my clan, why does the solo dungeon clear (not on master, not even flawless) now feel like the most intimidating requirement for titles and ranks?
Also, the requirement to do it without leaving the dungeon seems out of line with Raid requirements. If it's going to take me hours to learn how to do these encounters solo, why does the game require that I do this in a single sitting.
Anyway - good work overall. Have really been enjoying everything in the Final Shape year.

Sundered doctrine solo flawless was so easy I first tried it. Vesper's.... Yeah, I'm not touching that. That one is actually impossible.

Edited by IcyHorizons: 4/17/2025 10:38:15 AMIf you ask me, Guardian ranks should be removed from the game outright. Guardian ranks are pointless anyway, as they're just there to please all the hardcore players who wanted something to brag about. (Yes, I'm at Gr 10, but I rarely play anymore as much as I used to, due to how poorly Bungie has maintained the game, and the lack of actually fun activities.) Soloing either Vespers or Sundered is like soloing a Raid. The issue isn't necessarily the mechanics, as they're relatively easy to understand and get down after a few attempts. The issue is that the bosses have more health than they should, damage dealt to enemies and to the player is tied to frame rate, so if you're a PC player, you're SoL. On top of that, with a requirement of, "Don't leave the activity", it's laughable because with how bad the server quality has gotten, you CANNOT rely on the servers to not screw you over mid run.

1 ReplyI’m just straight up not spending the time. I did Spire, went for solo flaw on duality and got the bell glitch. I’m not spending a few hours getting my solo Strats down on dungeons I don’t even like playing in 45- an hour with a team. Sundered just isn’t fun to me. Vespers and the others are fun and I know them but just don’t care to solo.

4 RepliesDungeon health creep is insane recently

6 RepliesSoloing the dungeon to complete the seal is the “out of reach” challenge for many. It’s a stupid requirement for any of the seals.
but hey if you get an error code don’t worry, you just need to start over completely
-
I understand having issues with the time commitment. I am almost certain it's not an intentional design choice, but rather a byproduct of some other part of the code that they can't or won't be bothered to change. I could easily see that they can't figure out how to make the game differentiate between you leaving or a teamate leaving so the game just says 'oh, someone left, runs invalid' or something like that. And the workaround is just making not leaving a requirement. All bs speculation of course.

6 RepliesWarlords and Ghosts were way harder than sundered for solo runs. I have no idea what you're on about for this season. Vespers is the hardest without question. But on that note, ranks need to symbolize skill imo. Either make 11 harder to get. With title requirements for the most recent raid, or give us a rank 12 with flawless raids and dungeon requirements.

I don’t see any of VH or SD’s mechanics anymore difficult than the most recent dungeons - GotD, WR, SotW. They may be more intense than the OG dungeons (ST & PoH), but not the ones from the last few expansions. The Kerrev, the Erased encounter isn’t anymore mechanics heavy or complicated as the Hefn's Vengeance encounter. Ultimately tho, I’ve given up on guardians ranks since their first year because they really don’t represent anything. And I’m really enjoying where they’re taking Dungeons in this game.

I’ve never been bothered with guardian rank 11 but up to & including Warlord’s Ruin I have completed solo & solo flawless all dungeons. I did it for me, for the challenge & for the seals. I also completed Grasp solo & solo flawless & Prophecy solo & team flawless. But once Vesper’s Host was released it was a straight up nope after trying both on my main (Hunter) & on Titan. Yes all of the dungeons had different challenges, with some encounters taking me longer to get right than others but each dungeon always felt like it was doable solo. Both Vesper’s Host & Sundered Doctrine with the addition of adds that pull you, adds that deafen you, adds that freeze you & adds that apply radiation to you are, IMHO, a step to far for this guardian.

34 RepliesOne thing to increase engagement of soloing.. don't make a person sit through it in one session. Its not a requirement for raids, it shouldn't be a requirement for a dungeon.
-
This is the easiest dungeon to solo ever
-
3 RepliesThen don’t get g rank 11 it’s simple as you don’t need it
-
2 RepliesI wish there was a 'solo' mode for most things. Raids, Dungeons and Strikes, namely. Just give us access to the Legendary loot maybe at a lower percentage or something, but keep the Exotics behind team versions to keep the incentive there.
-
1 ReplySundered Doctrine is tough, but doable on all three classes. The only dungeon I haven’t soloed yet is Vesper’s Host. I managed to get the final boss low a few times but the DPS phase sucks especially on Hunter (I only play Hunter)
-
6 RepliesThe new dungeon is really not that bad if you use the right strategy. Encounter 1 is long but not hard at all. Encounter 2 use parasite and only use a super short DPS phase. Titans can throw up a barricade in a corner afterwards and be fine. Encounter 3 is extremely easy so long as you have a healing primary and don’t get pulled by the boss. All are easier than Warlord’s final boss or either boss encounter in Ghosts of the Deep.

2 RepliesSundered is a joke if you use arc warlock and beam through 4 bosses with geomags and slam kill in far right and spam super and you can solo that encounter in 4 minutes. First encounter just takes getting used to the route of lens and final encounter just takes 5-6 phases of queen breaker with sanguine or chaos reach. Vespers however is overly punishing and the only good encounter is first. The servitor boss is annoying now after the juiced his health more and made less servitors so the fight is unfun and all you do is spam ad clear the whole time. Then the final boss needs to be cheesed on 3 different no lightning zones with a well or bubble glaive just to stay alive on top of a chunky health bar. The rest of the dungeons are pretty easy and fair except ghosts of the deep. First encounter takes wayyyy too long and that traversal is painful especially when do solo flawless. But first boss is excellent and fair. Final boss is mainly bad because moths are very unbalanced and no resists work against them.

5 Replieswarlords was more challenging than sundered

1 ReplyEdited by Tall: 4/15/2025 12:40:17 PMCan we have one activity that’s actually challenging to complete? You’d think SOLO-ing an endgame activity should be tough to do. Not everything needs to be a checklist completion. It’s disingenuous to mention previous dungeons being more reasonable as if you had more than a handful of completions or even at least 1 solo completion of any of them.
-
2 RepliesThat's why I've never gone for Guardian Rank 11. The time and frustration isn't worth it to me.
-
1 ReplyIt’s the only reason I’ve never gone for rank 11, imo it shouldn’t even be a requirement

I kinda feel like they each offer their own challenges in their own way. Duality timers, or spires final encounter still requires respect, even if they seem on the easier scale of things. This is all fine, but rng now appears to be how much of a -blam!- will this enemy be? I'm currently on my journey towards solo flawless vespers, and this will be the final one... taking a little bit of time, but for what it's worth this is what helped me get through the more recent ones: Actually get it completed... over a 2/3 days it doesn't matter, it's all good practice. Do it all in one go Do it all in one go without dying. That might seem like over simplifying things and it might take time, but, if you are able to actually do it all, then what's to say you can't do it consecutively and then what's to say you can't do it all first time? Also, when practicing you can hot swap at the very end (just before you dunk the last ball in vespers 1st encounter, for example), or instantly after a boss kill and get the subclass triumphs too... so there's always something to gain. I've had epic fails hot swapping at ghost crush (gotd) so I wouldn't recommend doing that on a flawless attempt!!!

wich is a good thing,

It's really not that hard.
