Yet another thread about someone raging on the forums because they don't like something they don't intend to even try to understand. No real surprise there. Look, I don't care what someones interest is. The way you are reacting to this is basically the same thing as people who say "Video Games cause Violence in today's society!" (Really, its just the Lag) The best way to really describe this is by explaining how I got into the series myself. (If you havn't already muted me due to blind hate, Kudos to you) To make a long story short, I have always loved cartoons, and always will. I started drawing because of my favorite cartoons. Many of them from cartoon network. Now, if you look back on some of the cartoons from the 90's, you may find that quite a few hard a particular creative mind/animator helping with said projects. Lauren Faust. I really didn't know who she was until my second year of college, but I realized that quite a few of my favorite cartoons had her involved with it, including THE IRON GIANT (-blam!-ing masterpiece right there.) When I heard the series was gaining popularity, I honestly wanted nothing to do with it. I didn't understand at all what the appeal of it was, and though "This is just some group trolling on the internet." Then my Girlfriend at the time told me she started watching it, and tried to get me to. I refused for about a month before she convinced me by saying " You do realize that Lauren Faust produced it, right?" "Well, -blam!-....now I HAVE to try it." I was a bit salty to be honest when we first started watching it. but after a few funny jokes that got me chuckling a bit, and finding out I had already watched 4 episodes, I just said "Huh....its actually not that bad." I found it a bit funny that the show was actually making fun of itself for bursting into song out of no where. (Always loved that self shamming kind of humor). So yeah, it turned out to be pretty fun to watch. While it does get cheesy at times, it does have its "Did they seriously say that?! on a kids show?!" and even some villains that are dark as hell and make you think "Y'know, for kids!"*Sarcasm* This is all I can really do to explain it, but it really something you should try yourself. However, this show isn't always for everyone, but most who try it at least see it in a new light and come to understand its appeal. So I challenge you this OP. Give the show a try. If you like it, cool. If not, oh well. But please, stop this blind hate. This image everyone has of Bronies is not what the mass majority of bronies are. That's all I have to say. If you are about to hit the mute button because of one of my interests? Well let me give you a couple other reasons to mute me based on interests. I play Games on ALL sytems (Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, and PC) I watch other cartoons like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and others as well Been watching Anime since High school I like to play music in my free time I am a "Casual" gamer I am a Christian, but respect ALL people for their religion and sexuality And to top it all off, I main a Hunter Toodles!

All you have to do, is watch the documentary on Netflix about them. If Netflix made a doc saying they're weird, they have to be weird. Netflix is code

  • I don't think they said that as a negative thing. It was a documentary to help people understand it a bit better...though I admit some parts were a bit cringe worthy. However, if you really think about it, everyone is weird to everyone. I mean, have you seen the forums? There is no such thing as normal, Just people who are weird in different ways.

  • Yeah, its a bit of a read, but really it a defense of those who have different interests. OP was claiming that bronies were ruining this community, but seriously, when is the last time anyone posted anything pony related like this? I just don't like when people are demonized for having a different interest.

  • It us an unnatural interest I'm sorry. Liking a cartoon is one thing. Cos Play is fine too to an extent. But they way they worship it like a manifesto is bizarre. They were one of the subjects of an Abnormal Pysch seminar, and out of the 6 or so doctors there that spoke, I don't think one of them felt the people weren't a tad unhinged

  • I understand that it's unusual, but even some of us feel its taken a bit over the top by some fans. That's any fandom though. How would you feel if you saw some guy start running around preaching about the traveler as if it were real, saying all players of destiny were future guardians in the coming centuries? (I wish I could make this up, but I actually ran into this dude about 6 months ago.) Also, would you mind linking me to the source of that info? I'm kinda interested in checking out that article.

  • Seminar. I was there in person. I understand what you are saying. I know people have a right to have their own interests. But passion for something doesn't make it right. Fecophiliacs love their poo but I would never condone it and say yea that's perfectly normal.

  • So you are comparing a fandom for a TV show, to an obsession with a bodily function? Would you say the same for trekkies? Fans of Star wars, or game of thrones? What about people who are obsessed with Destiny? Im sorry but the way you describe it seems like that if you enjoy anything that it is automatically a sickness. Would you mind telling me who was running this seminar, or perhaps who the doctors were who came to this conclusion? Id really like to see this information for myself.

  • Wow you are taking this thing way too serious. He is saying that people can have interests and hobbies but that doesn't make them or the people that do it normal. Pretty easy to see the comparison he was drawing. And you want to read seminar notes on it. Geesh man get a grip. For all you know that could have been years ago and you expect him to remember who ran it, everyone involved etc?

  • I am legitimately interested in this stuff. Psychology was one of my favorite subjects in college. Sorry if I came off on a bad note, out of all the other obsessions, he had to choose Fecophiliacs as a comparison? There are thousands of conditions he could of compared it to and he chose to compare it with people who love shit? Im sorry but on these forums, its hard to believe that someone is making a point using fecal matter as a point on not trying to call someone else "Shit" I may be over thinking it but its not uncommon on these forums.

  • I didn't get they were trying to call anyone shit. What I took from it was they were comparing it to another unhealthy interest or obsession. That just because someone likes to do something doesn't mean it's normal, ok or acceptable. You may want to find other interests because if you misinterpret what people are saying that badly, psychology is not for you

  • Well, when you put it that way, and after reading back on it, i can see where I may have over reacted. Though I hope you don't really think I'm as upset with this as you think. Either way, I still understand that some obsessions are not healthy. Most obsessions are not to begin with. However, I am simply a fan of the show, but it is not my only interest. Though, as much as I have been defending this I guess I see why some may think I am. However, I have a life and many responsibilities that take first priority. I need to pay rent, bills, buy food for me and my Girlfriend, make sure our car payments are in. Pretty much life stuff. And with the say the world is with all the negative news and catastrophes going around, we both like to watch these highly positive shows to give us a good laugh and help us feel more positive While my my interests involve things like Gaming, drawing and musical instruments, I have minor interests such as the ones mentioned in the main post. However, I can tell you all you want that I am not some butthurt brony who takes every opposition as an insult, but it wont change your mind of me that easily. I already -blam!-ed up my first impression. All I can do now is learn from it and not keep making that same mistake.
