Thanks Bungie....

Today I was contemplating about my life and, as strange as it seems, Bungie popped into my head, and of course Halo. Now, I was in class while this thought had occurred to me, and we had been discussing what our favorite companies were, so perhaps this is what brought up the thought. Anyway, I started to think about the impact that Bungie, and more specifically, Halo, had on my life. 2001 was a rough point in my life. My parents had divorced the year before, and we had just moved from Chicago to Los Angeles. I had been taken away from my Dad, my grandparents, my friends, all of it. It was tough, and scary, but my mom ended up buying my brother the new Xbox he had been clamoring for, I guess it was a gift to try and make the move seem "not so bad." With he got a copy of halo, and i would watch him play it all the time, but i never touched it much myself, until one day when i was feeling confused, unsure of what to do, bored of watching tv, so i thought "okay, ill try that game out". Needless to say i loved it, and now that i think back on it, it's what got me through that move. Days where I felt unhappy, bored, confused, sad, missing family, whatever it was I would sit down and play halo. It never failed to make me feel better. I'd lose myself in the game, blasting aliens, hell most of the easter eggs i found myself before i even realised i could look it all up on the internet. To this day it is easily the most played game i own. This continued with halo 2, and halo 3. Come home from school and play halo, it made me happy, i found many friends through playing it, both over the internet and around my school, including one of my best friends to this day. Without having halo around as my little escape from reality for a few hours back then, i dont know where i would be right now, but i can guarantee you i'd be worse off. I still do it to this day, so many memories are connected to certain levels, certain maps, etc. Hell i even played halo pc on my crappy old computer with an fx 5200 because shooting other people ONLINE in my favorite game? Pure bliss, Even if it was a slide show. So yeah, thanks bungie, you guys have done much more for me than just make a great game. While I wasn't a fan of Reach, I'm still eager to see Destiny! Anyone else have experiences to share? :)
