Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 10/1/2024 7:39:40 PMIt’s been a money grab since post Forsaken, when they decided the content was disposable and they didn’t want to invest in the franchise anymore. Cause they didn’t feel like it was their story or game, it was Statens. That’s why the dev said it was “our new saga”, with that exact emphasis. Including the “our” in the emphasis shows they view the old saga as not wholly theirs. So we’ve been dealing with a studio that doesn’t even like the storyline of their main franchise. Which is why they don’t explain anything and just hocus pocus things. Cause they don’t care about Statens work. They just want to exploit his world building for their own narratives, which we’ve seen are hot garbage.

For a "F2P game," it sure costs a lot of money to play all the content. Oh, that's right, Destiny is not a F2P game because F2P games don't require you to pay a subscription to play the game, Ever. Or, ask you to pay for any content in the game at all, not even to complete a story as this one literally does. It's a cash grab at this point because the quality of the work in this game has hit a new low.

It's always been a money grab.

It's always been about the money. How do you NOT know this?!

It's been a money grab for a long time now.

1) paragraphs for goodness sake 2) these takes are just asinine. Bungie’s ONLY source of revenue currently is Destiny 2. You can argue that they’ve made some boneheaded decisions at times (like refusing to support PvP with maps because it’s not directly monetized) but overall they’ve been pretty successful… they’ve just mismanaged the success by wasting money on bad projects. The current population downswing was predictable after the end of the main story for the last 10 years.

4 RepliesBungie do have staff to pay Do you expect them to work for free Do you work for free

No and Yes, in that order. The best part is that if Bungie -blam!- up then the hope seems to be that Sony will fix it but I have even less faith in them.
all the other side-quests feel like a 9-5 grind for stuff thats not even worth it most of the time and it would be ok if they were actually enjoyable but most of the time it’s tedious repetitive bs that Bungie wraps in $30-$50 expansion
Because that's all they can offer for $30 - $50 expansion and that's the reason I refuse to buy them when other games have more side quests that aren't taking your time and worth doing
“Micro-Transactions” are full on transactions that are nowhere near worth what they’re listed for and to some that’s fine but I don’t like being scammed out of $ and that’s all it is an overpriced scam
Scam or not is subjective but one thing for sure from me is that they're trying to squeeze money from you on every turn, even on something that is free in other games. Not even EA is reaching that level All in all, destiny isn't worth the money, as for time? Unless you like doing redundant chores 9 - 5, also not worth the time

Everythings a money grab, that's the whole reason why people do things. Can't fault them for that, need money to live

2 RepliesFar be it for me to defend Bungie, but what exactly is the point of posts like this? It's just naive to believe any company isn't putting money first with every decision. The problem stems from decisions focused on short-term profits instead of planning for steady, long-term growth. Bungie's decisions have always been focused on the former regarding Destiny until fairly recently, and now they're paying the consequences for that lack of insight.
-
They don't care. They're just trying to destroy the game to punish Sony for daring to try to make a profit. Right now they're probably lying to Sony about what the playerbase wants. That won't end well for them. I just hope their dishonesty and pettiness cost them their careers. They don't deserve to work in video games after the last few months.
-
Obviously they don't care. We are only too stupid not to see it.

Been a money grab for years. The recent low numbers hopefully make them get back on track a focus on Destiny 2 rather than anything else.
-
Both lol

Destiny with 4 seasons is 12×4=48$ a year. Destiny with 3 episodes is 15×3=45$ a year. Same amount of content. Destiny 2 is cheaper now than before and depending on the price or frontiers/behemoth. Next year could be even cheaper.
