Why are people greyed out when they are online?

I’m online playing but friends can’t see me because Destiny says I’m offline and therefore my clan tag is greyed out? A bug, a setting?

Hi there, Thanks for reporting. Would you be able to provide a video of this issue occurring? Uploading to a public video hosting site like YouTube works best.

Check to see if u have set your platform online status to appear offline mode is on.
