So let's sum this up: A perfect society, comprised of millions of scholars and individuals from the first civilization blessed by the Traveler, is formed into this being. A society that brough about global peace, prosperity, tranquility and achieved practical perfection. This perfect society got so bored, they sought to develop meaning for themselves and the entire galaxy at large. We could've gotten an entire storyline showing how the Final Shape is calcifying everyone into perfect, safe little bubbles so they never have to suffer again. We could've even seen visions from the Witness' manipulations, perhaps showing us as the next Disciple, going around protecting people from rebels that somehow weren't Final Shaped, etc. This could've been a thought provoking, deeper dive into the philosophy of protecting the many at the cost of freedom. Where we defy the Witness in the end because the galaxy should be allowed to make its own fate, even if it means death and suffering. But instead, this perfect society's best attempt at convincing us to join its side.....is loot and riches? A entire society that solved world peace and hunger for their people using the Traveler's gifts, thinks we're no different than Calus? Really, Bungie? I get the funny fourth wall break and attempts to hype us up as heroes, but that really shouldn't be your actual plot.
