If hardware replaces regular crucible I'm going to cry

Hardware takes the vibrant, carefully crafted (sometimes cheesy) sandbox Destiny has given us over the years and subverts it into a teamshot, peakshot simulator. If Bungie replaces regular Crucible with hardware, they will have truly abandoned anyone who dares call themselves casual, anyone who just likes to sit down and have a good time in the explodey arcade shooter. I am aware that no official material was published indicating that hardware would replace traditional Crucible, I'm simply basing my concerns on what happened with checkmate as well as the sheer amount of fear I have for this possibility. I have a few reasons to believe that they would never go through with something like this, the two most prominent being that I imagine that there are many players like me who enjoy the fun, unpredictable (again, sometimes cheesy) nature of abilities in pvp. The second, and likely most important, is that Bungie always uses new abilities (Stasis, Strand, Prismatic) as primary marketing vectors for new DLC and I imagine that there are numerous players, namely pvp mains and those on tighter budgets (because let's be honest, expansions are pretty expensive), that would simply lose interest in new releases since they can't use their powerful, shiny, new powers against other players (a.k.a about 1/4 of the intended play experience). I'm asking Bungie, as a player who has loved this game unconditionally for 5+ years and spent over 5000 hours in game (about half in pvp), to never, ever consider replacing conventional crucible with hardware

Its been carefully crafted at times.
If Bungie replaces regular Crucible with hardware, they will have truly abandoned anyone who dares call themselves casual,
A lot of people call themselves casuals in this game and there's not very much casual about them other than the way they expect everyone to compete in the competing part of the game. I don't check peoples' triumph scores when they call themselves casuals but sometimes you come across them by accident and its like wow. I forgot I already posted on this thread but the teamshot, peekshot thing is also programmed into the non hardware modes.
anyone who just likes to sit down and have a good time in the explodey arcade shooter.
You don't really mean anyone. Hardware seems like it could maybe have reduced class abilities or maybe grenades added. But probably should only be one or the other. Does it have grenades? I don't think it does but lately I've been rotating through the modes mindlessly more than I generally rotate through them. When you do that sometimes there's less difference than people want to believe.
that would simply lose interest in new releases since they can't use their powerful, shiny, new powers against other players (a.k.a about 1/4 of the intended play experience).
The game should not hold people still so you can use your abilities on people. You have to earn that or you shouldn't get it and it shouldn't be called pvp when the game is the one doing everything. The problem is that this sentence all gets turned into computer code, and so the various freedoms that most pvp mains play pvp for become all but totally removed and it gets worse over time and it gets blamed on other things. When people that have issues with losing can just say "I'm not having fun" and PvP can be totally changed just because of that then at the very least those people should be taking some of the blame for when the game becomes broken. But over time its gotten to where as long as you project a certain identity for yourself and tbh, talk kind of like you're being victimized, you just don't have to get blamed for anything. Also hardware could mostly be an escape hatch for when prismatic comes out. None of us has any idea how that's going to go but they might. EDIT: 5000 hours is not casual no matter how bad you are at it.

    • I doubt it but I doubted they’d reverse sunsetting after nearly 4 years so I guess we’ll see.

    • It's not, nor is there any logical reason to believe it would.

      • It's so fun, strict lobby balancing, where I get 3 teammates dropping less than a combined 8 kills. Then dying 45x. While the other team sits back and teams.

      • Its an experiment… if its added it’ll probably be a rotator mode like mayhem.

      • Teamshotting and peek shotting dont have to work like they have been. There's also a chance that prismatic is so ridiculous that having special on top of it would be... ridiculous. As far as "showing off powers" it wouldn't be such a big deal if people could really just be happy with the abilities and special weapons, but they can't be because everyone gets to use them and so that requires the addition of the gooey. There will probably always be modes that have everything in the game in them just like there always has been.
