Trials Matchmaking Receipts

I wanted to wait for all the Week 3 Trials posts to slow down before I posted this. This post is about SBMM and why we need it. This post is NOT about a Flawless pool or anything like that. Bungie, how is this my first match on a fresh card? Should I be against this individual this early on? Can anyone explain the matchmaking if any?

  • Bungie loves to bully their inferior players ... they like to pretend it's random, but it's not.

Wow. Were both of you playing solo? That's something that obviously shouldn't be happening too often, but with that you can kind of see the extreme edges of what matchmaking is doing with the way it balances things. And you can see some of the problems that can kind of take place with the way the game gives you the kind of matchmaking you get based on how good it says you are. Some matches are more a representation of your skill level and some matches are more about determining you skill level. And (this is just the way I look at it btw, who knows what's actually going on) the reason its like that is because when you have a system that's about 7 wins being the goal you can't really always have people of the same supposed skill level playing each other if its going to give somewhat of a representation of who should be going flawless before who. So with that (like I said, this is just how I look at it), that's kind of a representation of your place in line for going flawless. Now, the good thing about it is that it doesn't always do stuff like that every match and you will eventually play people of a similar skill level. But if you lose to people of a similar skill level then its them who will basically be given a better place in line. And those matches like that have to go somewhere and even though they don't always go to the lowest skilled players sometimes they very much have to. That is about as extreeeeeeme as it gets btw.
