In terms of the in-game story campaign, Shadowkeep doesn't offer very much. The lore pretty much serves only as a brief bridge into Season of Arrival/Beyond Light. The final mission is very cool, but the rest of it is a bit of a drag. Thanks to sunsetting, the only content from Shadowkeep that's going to matter moving forward is the Garden of Salvation raid and the exotic quests, namely Xenophage and Divinity, which are admittedly S-Tier raid weapons. If you REALLY want to raid and get those exotics, then go for it. If you just play casually and don't care about endgame, you won't miss much by skipping it.
