Fake news: https://www.politifact.com/california/article/2017/sep/26/claims-mislead-about-california-bill-forcing-jail-/
We found groups such as Breitbart and Fox News crammed misleading information into short news headlines, greatly distorting the facts about the use of pronouns or leaving out key information that would have given a different impression... “The bill is very, very clear that what is prohibited is the willful engagement and repeated engagement in discriminatory conduct against LGBT seniors. So, if someone makes a mistake or doesn’t know what a person’s gender identity is and uses the incorrect pronoun that is not a violation of the statute," Joslin said. Willful and repeated violations alone wouldn’t lead to criminal prosecution, Joslin added. They would likely be punished with a fine. Criminal charges would only follow, she said, if the violation reached a level that was shown to cause the risk of death or serious physical harm, in accordance with state’s existing penalty structure for health and safety code violations at long-term care centers. Wiener has said purposefully using the wrong pronoun would be treated the same way as someone who violates a center’s smoking ban. It would be considered a minor violation but "no one is going to jail for that." Facilities that fail to comply would most likely get a notice of violation, akin to "a parking ticket," the senator said in an interview with PolitiFact California. He added that the provisions apply only to care facility staff, not to residents.
• Rip freedom of speech in Cali. Transgenders are now a protected class and we must all bow to our new leaders.

 • Anti-discrimination laws governing what businesses can and can’t do have existed since the civil rights act in the sixties. This is nothing new.

If a hospital feels so alienated by staff being mean to patients they should fire them and be done with it. The courts have no place in this. I’ve said the same when Kaepernick knelt.

 • They are penalized. If they refuse to pay fines they can do jail time. Oh, and that bit about spreading HIV... That is definitely the truth.

 •
Oh, and that bit about spreading HIV... That is definitely the truth.
Never said it wasn’t. Are you saying you think it shouldn’t be a crime to knowingly give someone HIV?

 • Of course not. They lowered knowing infecting others to a misdemeanor. That's insane. By the way... I stayed health care workers were the ones facing punishment for using the wrong pronouns on senior transgenders. The courts shouldn't be involved at all. If the health care workers are upsetting patients it's up to the facilities they work for to deal with them.
