Might want to take this advice here.
I have very little issue using an auto (and beating pulse and HC users, by the way) whenever I play.

Wow you're so right! It just takes a lot of skill and talent. The reason I can dominate pvp with a pulse but can barely get a kill with an autorifle is because I'm not gud! You must be so talented and great to have no problem with an autorifle. We should all just aspire to be exactly like you.

Well … autos are great. Depending on the map there are great options in every weapon class and i routinely counter meta weapons with non meta weapons. Meta will always be a pain but it is possible to counter with something other than a pulse or a shotty. People just arent willing to dig into their collections and try something offbeat when they could just use bygones and a shotty and get easy kills.
