We’re planning something new to recognize and reward the Sherpas among you. We are calling it Refer-a-Friend.
Maybe you have a friend who will be getting Destiny as a gift this season. Perhaps their gift-giver will even be picking it up for them at a holiday sale coming to a store near you. If you intend to show them the way to the mountaintop, we’ll have new rewards aimed at recognizing your service to the Kinderguardian.
It ain't about persuading a friend to buy Destiny; it's about referring those people that are extremely helpful to lower level Guardians—the Sherpas.
Identifying the main point in text is one of the first things taught in reading class, IIRC.
Identifying the main point in text is the one of the first things taught in reading class, IIRC.
Quit trying to confuse me
Whoops! Fixed. Sorry, I didn't even see that!
-
Refer a friend... do they really expect the same community that requires gjallahorn, or tom, or a flawless emblem to all of the sudden start helping lower ranked guardians? That's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
-
A reward is usually the best incentive to get you to do something.
-
Like a dog?
-
No. Weapons, armor, ships, etc.
-
Don't you get those anyways? Yes, another vog ship. I can't wait!
-
Well, we don't know what the rewards are exactly. If I had to guess, I would say it be weapons, armor, etc. Unless Bungie decides to make the rewards unique. Either way, we don't know what the rewards will be, yet.
-
Terrible analogy is terrible. You lost this one.
-
Terrible analogy is terrible? Is that even a real sentence? You lost... an education :(
-
I just thought I'd use redudancy to impress upon you how truly terrible your analogy was.

If you honestly think they are going to reward people for just helping out lower level players, I have some investment opportunities for you. It's for bringing in new dollar-making-machines, er I mean players. They say "sherpa" so it looks like less of a cash grab. So anyway, want to make $80/hour while sitting at home?

Discerning whats behind those words isn't taught at your school. Obviously.
-
What exactly is "behind those words"? That only brand-new players can use the system to nominate old players to get rewards? Those are called "Assumptions." We still don't know how exactly the system will work—we don't know if you must help someone with a Grimoire below a certain threshold to get rewards. Hell, we don't know what the rewards are.

This guy gets it^
-
Bump Finally someone with decent reading comprehension. All these -blam!-en idiots that don't know how to read.
-
By calling it refer a friend that's exactly what they mean
-
What's a sherpa? Been playing for a while but never heard of that term. And this refer a friend thing would have been nice when I referred my friends to buy the taken king instead of now when all my friends already own Destiny.
-
You don't know what a Sherpa is? It's not game slang it's a real term

Edited by aaronjr310: 11/13/2015 7:03:05 PMI mean I never heard it like at all being it's a real word is news to me
I mean I never heard it like at all being it's a real word is news to me
A Sherpa is a Nepalese native that guides climbers up mountains.
-
A sherpa is a person who does something for people, usually doing it for a higher class. You would be a sherpa by helping them through new content, because bungie can barely do that
-
Actually it is, every part of that statement was screaming "get your friend to buy this game, give us more money, and we will give you a cool in game hat."
