Pulse Rifles are the new Hand Cannons.

They can snipe across the map. Constantly outranging my Scout Rifle. Edit: Due to an overflow of salt, before you comment answer me this. Why should I use a scout rifle for its long range capabilities, when pulse rifles cover medium to long range and does decent at short range? Its a simple question so I expect a simple answer. Edit: Why are you people arguing this? All the professionals and Streamers are saying it is strong (which in protalk is the politically correct way of saying OP) Edit: Since no one reads the other comments, I use Pulse Rifles more then Scout Rifles.

  • I personally think Bungie should stop treating Auto Rifles like SMG's and let them fight comfortably up to mid range. Not a huge range upgrade, they should still lose their damage after a while, but just enough to the point that the bullets dont turn into crumpled paper after 10 feet. This way Hand cannons and autos can duke it out in the mid range, autos can reach out a little further than hand cannons but only just enough to contest with pulse rifles. A skilled pulse rifle user can keep his distance, inching towards scout rifle range, and put the auto rifle user down with relative ease. Scouts are fine the way they are.

    • Not the new hand cannons.... People are just using them more now that hand cannons got nerfed. They were good long before 2.0. Most people didn't realize because they were to busy using Thorn.

      • Pulse rifles are supposed to be good at range. It's not like there are terrific scout rifles besides Vision and Mida anyway. Scholar is good though. Try that one. 4 shot kill. Gheleon's Demise is 3 but it's too damn slow.

        • Blame the map design. Pulse rifles are meant for medium range, which is what like 50% of engagements on maps dial down to. Most of the other engagements are at close range. There is no real map in rotation anymore with sight lines I would say are 'long range' save the one with the man cannons when shooting across the ravine, which scout rifles excel at. Handcannons and the occasional assault rifle still beat out pulse rifles just as much as pulse rifles beat them out at close range so they are balanced there. Scout rifles just aren't fitting into Bungie's current direction for the game. Same with sniper rifles really, but are more usable since their one shot kill/high damage capability. There is hardly ever 'sniping' in this game. It is just simply pulling out a sniper for more damage. Again due to the map design.

            • I don't know I've always used pulse rifles besides in vanilla when I used handcannons. They seems just as good as always.

            • Something has to be dominant. I would have preferred legendary hand cannons due to them being harder to use, but at least it's not an Auto Rifle meta.

                • In all honesty nearly all the crucible maps we play just don't have sight lines that can be considered "long range". Take a scout to first light or another massive map and you will pile up the bodies as they try to pulse you from those distances. Bungie just hasn't given scouts a chance to excel really. Saying that the mida wrecks face on most maps, but that's mida. The only spot I've seen a scout prove it's worth is on crossroads and shooting across to the platform with jump pads. You can destroy snipers using a scout here, a pulse would most likely hit them a bit followed by you seeing the red glare turn on you and then that good old "you just got your insides crushed by a 50 cal bullet" sound as you body falls to the floor.

                • You want a simple answer? You are simply not skilled enough. SR performs well even in medium range. I think you are the problem, not PR.

                • I agree with this post but I want everybody to revaluat the combat scenarios in each map .....where the hot an heavy traffic areas are and ask yourself what weapon do you find yourself using in those areas there is only a few for me for scout rifles and about as many auto rifles areas to hand cannons mainly I find my self in mid range combat to out shoot shot gunners and to be close enough for snipers. just a thought pulse rifles have been good, there just standing out now
