The Longest Day: Part 1

(The image of the Titan is how I imagine Bruce, the picture of the Warlock is how I imagine Vincent) http://static01.bungie.net/pubassets/1310/Destiny_01.jpg?cv=3983588669&av=4081730267 Earth The City Unknown Year 8:00 A.M. "The Valkyries in Norse mythology were Angels that would take the fallen soldiers and escort them to Heaven, or Valhalla." Bruce remembered when his father told him the stories and fables when he was young. Name fits the job. Too bad I have to work with Warlocks. Bruce himself was a Titan, with his ancestors having toiled away at the wall, and when he looked at the them, he would almost ask himself, for what? So they can study a huge ball in the sky? And learn some magic tricks? What do they contribute? He thought the healing powers were useful since medical equipment was always in short supply. But considering themselves warriors? What tricks do they have up their sleeves? Bruce pushed the thought away as the dreaded Warlock came up to him. Warlock. Even the name infuriated him. A man walked up smiling, who wore glasses, had blue eyes, and short blonde hair. His clothes screamed academic with its dark red tunic over his dark grey armor. “Bruce?” Simply nodding, Bruce got on his Pike and revved the engine. He had to scream over the roaring noise. “My name's Vincent, nice to meet you!" Vincent paused for a moment, thinking how to break the ice. "Wanna race?” Already annoyed, Bruce spoke through his helmet: “I don’t know, you gonna cast a spell and cheat?” “Depends, if you’re on your period like I think you are, I’ll go easy.” Bruce angrily revved his engine again in response. Vincent smirked as he put on his helmet; “No period, got it.” 8:17 A.M. Outside the City Walls As they rode, Vincent took notes on his partner. What’s a Titan doing on Valkyrie patrol? He didn't hold a grudge or bias, but still, this work was usually carried out by Hunters and Warlocks. Another thing he noticed was that his armor was dark blue, but black in certain places, and not due to paint. Rather, through what looked like battle scars. Vincent tensed up when Bruce saw him making observations and pulled up next to him. “It’s from the last outing, I just haven’t had time to clean it.” Vincent’s eyes widened “You were in yesterday’s battle? At the quarry?” “Yeah, but it wasn't as bad as everyone wants you to believe. Just a bunch of riled up Fallen Dreg. Today shouldn't be like that.” “Yeah, here’s hoping. You read the brief right?” “Refresh me.” Vincent rolled his eyes. Lazy and hot-headed. Now I see why everyone but Titans, hate Titans. “Distress signal out in the canyons was received about an hour ago by a group of Paleontologists trying to excavate something.” “If they're so far out, why didn't they have security measures?” “They did but all 5 guards are gone, just vanished over night.” “Fallen don’t take prisoners.” “Which is why they think it might be other humans.” Bruce doubted it, but silently nodded, then put some distance between them again. How could humans survive outside the city?
