Cool ideas but the only thing they can realistically do is manipulate the number and type of enemies on a level.

I'm confused. Are you agreeing, or are you arguing that you agree haha? They can easily attach a random generator for enemies for each area. Along with adding weapons and abilities for more depth.

I'm saying I like your ideas but the only thing on your list that they can actually do, without redesigning the game, is manipulate the number and type of enemies (i.e. this level is now all thralls or all majors). Even that probably wouldn't be easy.

Actually games alter spawns all the time. It's kind of a built in mechanic to a lot of programs. You create a point of spawn, choose what enemies spawn at that point, but with some simple coding, can be made random. Also, weapons and abilities can be added to those enemies. Again, it's done a lot. That takes a little more time though of course.
