Why i dont heavy synth in raids any more
I have stopped using heavy ammo synth in raids and here is why, they should not be needed. I am sick of bad players who after thirty levels can't land basic precision shots.
Honestly people who are gjallahorning to beat crota are kind of bad players who refuse to use the right guns. Heavy is like a warlock self rez, a crutch. I have been able to beat every encounter with all members ONLY using basic scout rifles and hand cannons with no exotics. Period. Gjallarhorn crutches are for solo heroes who can't focus fire correctly.
The problem is also this. Half the people don't have proper gjallahorns or hungers. So you are essentially burning twice the resources 2 rockets to 1 to an inferior weapon. As such, you burn at 2x the rate of ammo as the casual lowbie. Considering it is THESE players that are often crutching on real primary only skilled players, I refuse to burn my resources so someone ELSE can get gear. I am now of the opinion that the team is good enough to do it all with primaries or not at all.
Update: Yes it is possible to take crotas shield with only primary. And is often the better and more consistent method.
Update: Some have confused my stance of not using heavy ammo synth to mean never using a heavy weapon. Quite the contrary. I am just no longer going to burn synths because people just want to blitz rocket Crota from a stationary position and not learn how to do the fight or mess up and wipe to a boomer because they are soooo insistent on ghallarhorning crota they forget to switch to a simple weapon and help 1 boomer.
NEWS FLASH: Being a skilled player doesn't mean standing at an unreachable edge and rocketing Crota. If heavy ammo synth drops, sure I will help with a rocket or two, but I'm no longer burning synth because its completely doable with out 19+ rockets.

Yeah, see your the type of guy who doesn't respect the fence of stratagem and intelligence, over some imaginary "SKILL" you've created to make yourself feel better. Crota's fight is artificially hard, its not a challenge, not much skill is required to master it, Crota is a big stick enemy. Who's capable of multiple one shots, and you need a big stick to deal with him. You may say that I lack skill fighting the way I do, and I would say you lack basic intelligence required to survive fighting the way you do. At the end of the day you swing from your tree and I'll swing from mine...

1 ReplyDowning Crota with primaries is not difficult. You are not special for doing so. Most people prefer using heavy cause it has less room for error when downing him.

But honestly, saying you're better than someone just because they use a higher dps weapon than you makes your opinion paint you as an asshole. You're not an asshole are you? I'd advice not judging people simply because they want to do something, "The hard," or, "The Skilled," way. TL;DR Let people spend their glimmer the way they want.

Why use synths at all? Just use all of your ammo.... hide in the cheese spot and it will all respawn within 10 seconds.

If you think it's more efficient to take crota down with primaries than ghorns, you are just not correct. There isn't even an argument to be made. Say what you want about a crutch, but ghorns take crota down faster than anything else.

Self resurrection is not a crutch. If you used any other super in the same situation it would save your life. You actually get less kills with self resurrection as opposed to blade dancer etc.
