The best thing about PVE in destiny so far in my opinion is the raids. They require a good fire-team and strategy, (whether you cheese it or not it's all strategy to me). My idea is this DeeJ / Bungie:
Once a month or even once every quarter (4 months) come up with an event like iron banner for PVE players that is a really hard puzzle only lasting for 7 days with a set reward for completion (no rgr!). When you go to orbit your ghost or the game could read we are getting a strange transmission from one of the planets. You should then have to patrol the planets and find where this is coming from (1st part of the puzzle). Once this is found lead us somewhere else in the solar system to obtain an item or something. And continue on (each event being in patrol but only initiating once you have gotten the previous puzzle piece / objective item. You can even reuse any of the bosses up to date (we know how you love to do this bungie) but if the whole puzzle is figured out within the week then you gain the reward that is set being some type of exotic gear/weapon that has been predetermined kinda like another xur.
To make it even more interesting every day the initial transmission that you have to seek out to start the puzzle off could move from planet to planet to different locations making it harder for people to just youtube/read forums for it. This would be a great event that would have the forums blowing up with ideas / solutions on how to beat this week long event and would be an awesome addition to look forward to on the PVE side of the house.
