I typically don't care for accents, actually. The unsexiest accent is a Boston accent though. Good thing I live in southern New England.

5 RepliesEdited by Orbital Drop Shock Trooper: 1/17/2015 4:18:11 PMDon't mean to brag but I know my accent is envied hard. London, but I can variate between talking to the mandem and commanding respect at posh places. Even within the UK its envied. It's like elitism just by voice. If you go up north, you've already won an argument by virtue of eloquence when examined by the masses. I know this because too many experiences in seminars and public places whereby we argue about trivial things and when its my turn to speak people take me far more seriously than let say northerners, in these educational institutions. Pretty unfair. But I ain't complaining. Also I lived in the U.S and they freaking love it. Makes you play up to it more but then you gotta get put down by constant ignorant rambling on 'the queen and tea'. Anyways what I'm trying to say is that London accents are by far the most sophisticated if you know how to turn it on and off, (as in you can talk to your mates and pull off slang without a cringefest) Sorry, not sorry. But too many non-londoners within the UK try to copy london slang and it doesn't have the same ring. Proper londoners clock straightaway. Trust me on this. It's cringe. Edit- Also London RP is diff from the rest of the UK's RP so don't beg off it.

3 RepliesEdited by NeXuS: 1/17/2015 2:43:36 PMScottish! In saying that, there are many variations to "Scottish". Many different accents. Queens English isn't an accent though; Queens English is the default setting for "English". everyone else who doesn't speak in Queens English, but still uses "English", I.e. American, Australian, Scottish, etc, has an accent.
