I played the Iron Banner when it came around just in time for me to get level 30 for the hard raid on VoG. I needed gear that I didn't want to RAID for (I now raid refularly haha). I got the gear then started to RAID VoG.
I feel as though the Iron Banner is a fast track to get noobs or players who can't grind the gear faster. It seems to come out ever time a new RAID or LIGHT LEVEL come out.
Any thouhts?

1 ReplyNoobs get eaten alive in an environment as lethal as The Crucible during Iron Banner. IB is simply a alternate means by which players can get to level cap if they don't have time to grind the raids for a full set of armor....or are getting screwed on the drops. But the grind to get to rank 4 or 5 during the week of IB is more difficult than any raid is on an individual player. Even though I'm primarily a PVE player, I take greater pride in what I've done during Iron Banner than I do over anything I've done in raids.

5 RepliesYou realize that IB armor maxes at 33, not 36, right?

Iron banner is the only gear that is truly "earned"

1 ReplyIron banner is not for noobs. It is a brutal killing field where level 32s with over powered exotic and raid weapons can one shot lower level Guardians for sport. Bungie offers up level 32 gloves and Iron Banner weapons as an incentive to die repeatedly at the hands of a semi-pro league gamer.

1 ReplyYour just mad you don't have gjalahhorn and some noobs do

5 RepliesI'm pretty sure there's only one piece of 32 gear from IB, gauntlets, I think.

Edited by IrishTheSavage: 1/13/2015 4:08:11 PMIron banner gear looks way better than raid gear imo.. and the guns are some of my favorite pvp guns... so yeah I grind for those.. maybe we don't want to look like everyone else.. because everyone is twinsies..

Not really. You either have to have no life or be very talented at PvP in order to get Iron Banner gear. Still though, it DOES save players a whole ton of work.
