Serious question, what is the point of playing Destiny right now?
In less than 3 months the following will happen:
- All of your armor will be obsolete, anyone can buy something better from a vendor
- Your weapons will be underpowered for PvE and Iron Banner
- You will need to reset and re-level all of your exotics (if you even can)
Basically, if you've already completed Crota's End then nothing you are doing right now matters. If you are one of the lucky few that actually gets the weapons you want, you'll get to use them for a couple of months? The hard mode primaries you'll get to use for what...a month?
Why not just stop playing, buy the expansion, and in a few days you'll be just as progressed as the people that have put 1k hours into the game. Better yet, you could just do one ROC strike and get a nice exotic that the 1k hour people STILL don't have.
I don't get it, I really don't. I feel like Bungie is just laughing at us right now. "Haha look at all the sheeple continuing to play through our arbitrary abusive loot system!"
*Edit: So many replies saying they "play for fun". Look, I think the core gameplay of Destiny is incredible (it is fun), and it's why I am still playing. The problem is that the loot system is just a huge distraction for me. And now we have expansions coming along every 3-4 months that make it so most people will not be able to try out all of the new weapons and armor.
A lot of the fun for me is just trying out and collecting new weapons. I would really love to see what it is like to use a Hawkmoon in PvP, a Gally in PvE, and that raid Sniper in anything really. The problem is that at this point I do not believe I will ever get to use these, no matter how hard I try.
Also, leveling NEW weapons is fun, but just having them reset and leveling the exact same ones all over again loses its fun the second go around.
Yes, playing with friends is hella fun. However, other games do the playing with your friends aspect much better. Madden, GTA 5 to name a couple of them. Most of my IRL friends don't play Destiny, they play one of those two games.

So thanks for the time waste of making me read it. It's simple, if you don't like the way certain games work (such as having to grind and having dlc) then don't play. That's like me saying "oh why get call of duty if I have to restart next year" or "why play WoW if they're just going to have an expansion soon?". It's simple. Just don't play it

It doesn't become obsolete. The attack rating on a gun determines whether it can deal its full potential damage to an enemy. A gun with 331 can deal full damage to a level 33 and a gun with 300 deals full damage to a level 30. If you had 2 G-horns, one at 331 and one at 300, they would do the same damage to a level 29. Enough b!tching about obsolete weapons. Guns with 300 damage can still kill everything lvl 30 and below just as good as new guns. Don't tell me you are always fighting level 32 enemies and the old guns don't cut it.

4 RepliesIMO if you play a game for any other reason than to enjoy yourself and have fun you're doing it wrong. I find playing Destiny to be fun. Sweet lootz and progression are just icing on the cake. People complain that there's no point in playing since the next DLC will include level progressions, yet people complain about the lack of content and ability to progress further in its current state. It's impossible to give people what they want when people don't even know what it is that they truly want.

Aspects of Destiny that made me lose interest after being in love with the game: 1)Newer weapons in the next dlc will have the same random assortments of perks for each weapon. (Where is, increase the fire rate of this weapon, precision kills dramatically increase stability for that magazine etc) I have to chose between perks where only a fraction of them are actually useful. 2) Just like Borderlands, once you level up, you receive higher damage guns.......when your killing higher level enemies? Where is the originality? 3) As posted, all current gear we wear will become irrelevant at some point, making everything we do right now completely pointless. 4)So, let's say you get all the raid gear... Ok, now what? Are you going to wear the gear and go do more raids for nothing? Are you going to do strikes and hope for gear/weapons that you won't use? We have reached the wall of Destiny. 5) We have 2 more months until the next expansion? What the hell are you going to be doing during that time seriously? 6) Switching between characters and moving gear/weapons around takes way way way too long. I have to actually shut off the game in order to switch my character??? 7) There is NO master volume. Ps4 has a great music application and I cannot use it when i play destiny because you CANT TURN DOWN DESTINY. 8) Whoever thinks Destiny is implementing a trade system in March is crazy, and have no idea what kind of effort and finances that would take from Activision/ Bungie. There are not enough items to create currency, there are too many things that could go wrong for a game that hasn't been out even half a year.

Oh wait, there are supposed to be two more DLC's after that, which again will likely erase progression as well. So just wait til about a year from now and then come back!
