Counterbalance removes any side to side recoil, making the gun only shoot upward, I got it on my sos with perfect balance. I'm guessing once I unlock perfect balance, the upward shooting will be less.

Ah that makes sense. Yea I do see that it doesn't move side to side. Shame I didn't get perfect balance :(

It happens. I once had a sos that didn't have perfect balance or counter balance, just standard low stability. Wasn't fun, luckily I got my current but it was from nightfall strike (someone got a monte carlo though...). Counterbalance is far better than without, just have to hold the stick down is all.
