Any Simple, But Helpful, Tips/Tricks?

Hello, I'm looking for any tips or ticks that will help me out in Destiny's Crucible Mode. I find it fun yet very frustrating. I love Destiny but it pisses me off when I keep getting spawn trapped and keep getting killed by the same guy over and over again. Yeah, I have a Legendary Scout Rifle but it doesn't help much. Any form of advice would be appreciated. And I'm a Level 20 Titan, not sure if that's important but I'll say it anyway. Thanks in advance!

  • That's a really good scout! I'm jealous. Had "The Calling" with almost same perks but it was pre DLC :(

      • Your scout isnt levelled yet, I would level up your weapons in PvE first before taking them into the crucible. Also a lot of it is just learning the maps.

I'm not a pro. Not even close. I'm probably considered a casual. But, I'm good. So, I'll give my advice. Follow your team. You don't have to hold their hand and tag along like a child but 8 times out of 10 you'll see more action if you're with someone. Also, you'll live to talk about it after if you and a teammate find some idiot titan trying to lone wolf. Stay near cover. I can't stress this enough. Shoot from around a corner, shoot over cover, shoot under cover (possible.) No matter what position or scenario you're in, staying near cover and having the upper hand of being able to pop back in to cover, maybe reload then jump out and finish your kill or start a new one, will always be better than being out in the open. Scenario: You're by yourself, clearly you didn't listen to rule one, but it's okay. Rely on your cover. It's okay to have a bit of a crutch to lean on. Just don't become dependant on cover. Anyway, say you're just turning a corner and find yourself a little warlock wondering around looking at pretty flowers. He notices you and starts shooting. You weren't ready for it and he gets the first shots on you. So you back upBehind cover but the instant you break line of sight, you pop back out. The warlock throws a grenade to flush you out but you're already firing hell upon him/her while they are still in the animation of throwing the grenade - giving you a good half second more than him - which is all you need. Not to mention he'll probably be confused. Try to keep using the same gun for a short while. Basically because if you practice with it enough, you'll understand it. You'll know the kick you're about to get when you squeeze the trigger. You know how long it will take to fire the next shot. You know how much damage you'll be doing from the range you are at. If you know how your guns work, you have an enormous advantage over those that don't know. Like Titans. More short tips: • don't sprint around corners. Ever. • keep an eye on your radar whenever you're not shooting, turning a corner or anything else that needs you to generally aim. • try to keep you reticle at head height. That way, you'll hit more head shots. Which is obviously good. • for the love of god don't use your special weapons as your primaries. Your primaries are more powerful than you think. Please don't be one of those hunters that ONLY shotgun slide. Well, I hope that helped. Stay classy xo. ❤️ EDIT: Just realised you're a titan. Sorry for the rude comments about Titans. For some reason I assumed you were a hunter. Also, your scout rifle is really good. Almost as good as mine. ;)

        • Scout rifle in crucible is expert mode only, IMHO Make sure when you die, you aren't respawning and just running back to the same spot again trying to get revenge. Hang back and go another way Use your radar- sometimes, let the guy come to you Overall just make sure you are using range correctly - running around corners = shotgun, close open = hand cannon, medium range = auto rifle or fusion Work on headshots, it makes a big difference Jumping is key to get away or disorient opponent. Another good tactic: Grenade to soften them up around corner then go for kill

Always reload when safe. Don't go into a fight with half your mag if unnecessary.

          • If you're rocking a scout rifle, you're going to have to play more cautiously. Hang back, use your teammates as bait and hammer in shots to the heads of your enemies engaging them. Pack a solid back-up weapon like a shotgun (or Plan C, if you've got it) for when someone surprises you at close-range. If you want a close-range monster, use a handcannon. Scout Rifles are not really that great against guys running Auto Rifles and going for close-quarters, but a solid handcannon can drop them with ease.

              • If you are playing a scout riffle it is all about where you position on the map. As it is not like Halo and when you get close range you do not stand a chance against any weapon in the game. You need to find the ranges that are between 50m-70m in game to use these guns really effectively. Then you have to learn to stop being so damn aggressive with them as the kill time for every other gun is shorter in almost every case. That and when you get close range just try getting those head shots. Like rusted lands for example: http://i59.tinypic.com/2rxvg2c.jpg. Any thing in blue are bad directions to look for a scout riffle. Anything red are good places to stand (besides the one green area I colored over the red at). Anything green you should prolly use a fusion or shotgun at. Now you need to choose the scout riffle. IKR scary. One you want one with 14 or more rounds, its not that hard. Personally the Vision of confleux, Mida, or the Crusader 1 are the best. Then selecting a scope: ALWAYS ALWAYS choose one with a very clear sight. usually red dot sights with no iron sight blocking any part of the enemy's body. Perks on the weapon don't really matter to much. However, field scout, any recoil reducer, and return to sender are the best.

                • I think when your first starting geting used to crucible I would try to have a kind of patient/aggressive kind of playstyle. By that I mean don't be so aggressive. For the most part since the radars always up people know when someone's coming for them. So it helps to be a bit more passive and patient and bait your opponent a bit instead of just rushing around the corner because you know he's there. I think it's helpful to think of it the way someone said to me the other day that it's kinda like being all crouching tiger/hidden dragon about it and waiting patiently and than quickly pouncing on opportunities that you see or that you can make. It's a ebb and flow of being slow and cautious and than explosive when it's the right moment. Hope that makes sense haha. Good luck man!

                  • I have a simple unimportant pve boss fight tip... If you don't have a precision shot just hit them with a fusion rifle... same damage wherever you hit them and saves your other ammo for when you can maximise the damage

While reloading if you sprint after the magazine (or whatever your gun uses) is in you can cancel the rest of the animation effectively reducing some time on reloading. Small trick maybe it'll help a little.

                    • I'm far from amazing at this game, but in my experience if you are going to use a scout you should try VOC or Mida. Other than that, if you really want some kills, go for the auto rifle, I hate to say it, I hate the weapon platform. But in pvp a stable autonwith some decent impact reigns supreme. Suros obviously the champ there. A fusion rifle with the accelerated coils perk for quick shots helps a lot too, sure people are going to call yo a hack for using it, but who cares, they are just mad you killed them. For a heavy, I always go LMG sure rockets are a one hit kill, but a high impact machine gun with field scout will net a shit load of kills.

                      • Take the time to get used to playing as every character in crucible, you'll end up noticing titans are the worst and hunters are the best for crucible, but you'll also notice its the other way around in PvE

                      •
It's important to try different strategies. The best way to beat a strat is learn how to use it. You'll see what beats you, and what just absolutely can't. This goes for literally everything. Weapons, abilities, subclasses, which path you take from one point to another, which control point you go for at the beginning of the game, etc. Also, don't be that guy that constantly charges and dies. If you're good with your weapon and can handle CQC, by all means, but if you're new, you're better staying back and waiting for someone to come to you. You're still going to die, but it won't be as often (hopefully). And while you're staying back, you can focus on learning player paths. While humans aren't brainless AI that become completely predictable, they're still going to follow trends. Learn which paths people like to take. Yes, this is called camping, and it's a good strategy. Make sure your weapons compliment each other. An auto rifle and shotgun will leave you dead to every sniper, scout, pulse, and hand cannon out there. Be able to defend yourself from multiple distances. These are close, mid, and long range. Finally, don't be afraid to adapt. You can change your weapons and abilities at any time. It's worth it. Oh, and there's no A on Blind Watch.
• I'm being very serious. Just play A LOT. I never had that much first person shooter experience before playing Destiny and it was difficult to play well at first. Make sure you level all the classes and you will find your unique play style. Just getting used to the hand choreography on your controls is an art for this game. Also, every gun has a hater. Listen to your...trigger finger. You like bullet storming, get an AR. You like to pop skulls in two to three shots, stick to the scout or hand gun. Good luck and don't forget to reload;)

                                • Crucible has a steep learning curve. My advice: drop the scout and try something new. Shaking up your skills and challenging yourself will make you better overall. Also, customize your weapons and abilities to the map. Some are best with shotguns and lots of Intellect. Others are ideal for snipers and tons of discipline. Mix up the game type. Sometimes I hit a wall in the slayer game, whatever it's called. So I move to Control, where I can better predict enemy movement. If you play lots of rumble, try a team game. The buddy system is a guaranteed way to improve your odds. Good luck dude
