How can I deal with depression?

I've been pretty depressed lately, I've just been in a sour, sad, mood for over a month, Christmas was fun, but the depression really didnt help. Is there any way to deal with this? :(

  • I used to be really depressed. I have a hard time finding meaning in life sometimes cuz i realize there is a certain futility to all we do and i also frequently question my own existence (read Descarte and you'll understand I'm not as crazy as i sound). Best thing to do is fill your life with purpose. Get done hobbies, some stuff that actually gets you up to have fun and try to choose things that include socializing like i play basketball and chess. The two things i think people truly fear are loneliness and a lack of purpose. If you can fix both of those you're good. Hope i helped.

    • See your doctor while taking pills not appeal to you they also offer other remedies like talking about what depressing you and other forms of help. Depression can be a very serious thing and it doesn't just effect the one with it. The sooner you seek help and help yourself to feel better the more effective the help will be if left for a long period depression can take a deep root and make helping you much harder.

      • Get yourself a routine, even if you've lost your appetite try not to skip meals, make sure you're sleeping enough, exercise even if it's just walking. Also, don't be afraid to seek help through therapy if you don't feel like you're getting any better. I read your post where you explained there are some things going on in your life atm, hopefully once things settle you'll feel back to your old self again. Depression can get very nasty, keep on top of it.
