Public Service Announcement: Don't upgrade Black Hammer
To be specific, don't upgrade Hive Disruptor. The additional damage comes in the form of white damage with every shot on Hive Major enemies. This breaks the 'precision damage' streak which negates the automatic reload.
Bungie is aware of this already, this message is for the community. I haven't seen many threads on this and the one's that are out there were largely ignored. So if you didn't know, now you do. And if you did know, you can laugh at me for finding out after the fact.

Edit 2: Sad to say there are many Guardians that don't understand what a Hive Major is. Feel free to look it up before posting that yours works like a charm. This bug seems to be limited to knights and wizards only.
Edit 3: Seems to be some claims that the gun is working as intended. Others that definitely confirm this bug (video confirmation, not just 'git gud' cause your aim sucks). Upgrade at your own risk.
Edit 4: Hive upgrade HAS been deactivated until it 'plays nice' with White Nail. Blessing for most. Not for others.

If Bungie is aware they can fix it later but you shouldn't be telling people to no upgrade the gun because it won't change regardless of whether Bungie fixes it or not (it's only a little glimmer). You could have left it at just telling everyone the damage didn't apply to critical hits as of now.

I have stated before that mine works just fine. Smash major ogres in the face it works all day long. I am sure i have had it work on major knights. (Like in the warmind eris mission) I will have to try and confirm it though.

3 RepliesWhat does it matter if the hammer is black? I prefer a wood grain finish personally but still. Also I'm not sure hitting a Major Bee Hive is a great idea with any hammer even if your point is to disrupt them.

Hmmm.... I've used mine on the gold knights on moon patrol and some of the gold knights and other majors during strikes and never noticed it not working unless I was unable to get a shot off on time. I'll have to check it out next time I encounter some. Thanks

1 ReplyFor those that found out too late; If you land two crit shots on a hive major, and make the last crit shot on a regular, the precision mag bonus will activate. Hope this helps til you land your duplicate.
