Vault of Glass - Exotic Chest drop rate Normal vs. Hard Mode
Ever since the release of The Dark Below, the Hard Mode of Vault of Glass is an absolute scrub fest, and I detest the word scrub, that's how bad it is! I have just spent 2 hours with a Fireteam trying to get to the Templar and still can't get past him!
The only reason I am doing the Vault of Glass is for the Exotic Chest, regardless if they are 300 Attack, once you have a weapon, there is a good chance you will eventually be able to upgrade it through Xur.
Does the Exotic Chest have a better chance of yielding an Exotic in Hard Mode compared to Normal Mode and have I been wasting my time doing Hard Mode.
Does the same apply to Atheon dropping random Exotics (not the Vex Mythoclast)

2 RepliesEdited by THEUNDEAD565: 2/15/2015 7:04:06 AMWhether you do it on "normal" or "hard" you have the same exact chance (as long as you complete both!) each time. If you do it on normal, you get 1 roll on normal, one on hard. If you do it on hard, you simply use up both of your rolls right there. In effect, this makes it half the trouble of trying to get an exotic. There wouldn't be any "higher" percentage if you did it flat out or did it throughout the two runs. Same applies to Atheon, though you [i]do[/i] eat away at half a chance to get the Vex Mythoclast (not any other exotic though!). Simply because on Normal he can drop exotics, just not the vex, and any extra roll you have gives you a shot at rolling the mythoclast. Edit: The "chewing up of rolls" only applies to things you can get on Hard Mode only that you can't recieve on Normal (Vex, Fatebringer, Praedyth's Timepiece, Raid Helmet, Praetorians Foil). I know we were talking about Exotics only, but I figured I would clarify this.

6 RepliesI'm not sure about the exotic drops from Atheon, but if u do the vog on normal u can get exotics, on ONE condition. After you kill the Templar, there will be an entrance to get to the next area, there is an exotic chest. If you do not open that chest u will get exotics on normal. NO ONE MUST OPEN THE CHEST! I learned to late, I opened the chest and accidentally prevented everyone from getting exotics. I still got Atheons epilogue, light of the great prism, kabr's forceful greaves, and chatter white shader though!!! Athens epilogue is pretty rare to get and I'm glad!

7 RepliesMy understanding is that doing the chest once on hard gives you a double roll for exotics. Same thing for Atheon. There's no real good reason to do normal and then hard if you could've just done hard first and been done. Now if you've never run VoG before please do at least three run throughs on Normal before trying Hard. Otherwise you will just be a burden to a hard mode team - regardless of what your level says - and when you do hit hard mode let your team know you've done normal but not hard yet so they can tell you the differences.
