Reach is my least favourite Halo so no thanks. It's the one game where Bungie ignored their own canon and decided to change the story. It was also the game that started the downward spiral for multiplayer by introducing loadouts and armour abilities.

  • Doesn't change the fact that Bungie are retards that can't keep consistent canon.

  • I know that game canon overwrites books. The fact is though that Bungie didn't have to go out of their way to completely disregard their own story, especially considering everything in the book was a lot cooler then what you did in the game.

  • i don't quite see how you can make this comparison, the reach novel was about master chief, his beginnings, his training, his team, not carter and the rest of noble team, so these are two totally different stories. It doesn't 100% affect the books story, Reach is the only game (not counting ODST) where John isn't directly involved. So, Bungie never did entirely disregard the story in the novel with reach, its an entirely different story. I would love to see the true beginnings of the chief, don't get me wrong, just don't you say reach disregarded the story.

  • Fall of Reach- Reach fell in a day, the autumn never went into orbit as it was not outfitted for it, the covenant attacked quickly like a blitzkrieg, no scouting parties were sent, Halsey wasn't around (this ensures the book First strike makes sense) Halo: Reach- Reach fell in a month or so (don't remember exactly), the Autumn was in orbit what should be impossible, the covenant took there sweet time, Halsey was very much there until the very end. For anything I might've missed here's an entire website dedicated to it link

  • yeah, it did kinda feel a bit weird with the whole long time it took reach to fall, i do agree that was crazy, that much disregarded the story, but i cant quite find much else in reach that disregards the story

  • Reach totally disregarded the story though, the events were totally different to the books and actually have overwritten more than one book.

  • the fall of reach was about the master chief, while the game was about noble team, and how reach fell, the only things i see disregarded in the story is how long it took reach to fall, in book it took a day, while in game it took much longer, and how cortana was only seen at the end of the game, while in book, Halsey had cortana before the covenant even invaded reach

Wasn't referring to the origins of Chief in the book. I personally don't care if we play as MC or not but from a canon perspective, before the game came out, there was a lot of things already set in place that the game ignored, and not just from the Fall of Reach novel. Spartan IIIs weren't around at the time and there are more discrepancies but I honestly can't remember them all since it was a long time ago. Even if the books never existed the game had a lot of major plot holes within the context of its own story.
