I am glad Xur didn't have the Gjallarhorn, here's why.
Ok, so let's start with the basic logic everybody already understands.
1) Xur sells Gjallarhorn
2) Everybody is happy and buys Gjallarhorn
3) People spend the weekend upgrading Gjallarhorn
4) By Tuesday, everyone has an upgraded Gjallarhorn- at least with Wolfpack Rounds.
Sounds good so far, right?
Well, let's continue.
5) Weekly Heroic/Nightfall- both jokes, people just use Gjallarhorn and slaughter the boss/the adds quickly and painlessly.
6) VoG - groups kill the Templar instantly, groups kill Atheon within 1-2 time's vengeance. So VoG is a joke.
7) Crota's End- Gjallarhorn on shriekers, every group gets hidden chest free (wasn't hard anyways). Gjallarhorn at Deathsinger, wizards dead in 30 seconds, another 30 seconds shriekers are dead, another 30 seconds to a minute and Deathsinger is dead. People use Gjallarhorn to instantly take down Crota's shield, and use Gjallarhorn on adds+oversoul. Crota fight gets even easier.
8) Vanguard Tiger/Roc - More Gjallarhorn spam, more instant killing bosses.
9) Daily Heroics - these were already pretty easy, made even easier with infinite Gjallarhorns.
Clarification: so now Everybody has Gjallarhorn, it's not special any more, everything in the game becomes a joke. Bungie is either forced to nerf Gjallarhorn or make everything in the game 5 times harder. New players would be angry because they missed the opportunity, and many will stop playing/not buy the game. Nobody has any reason to use an exotic other than Gjallarhorn unless its something like the Hawkmoon, Suros, or Mythoclast. Game is unbalanced, and the end result will be Gjallarhorn being ruined for everyone - or some other unhappy result.
[b]Tl;Dr: Game unbalanced, not fun, Gjallarhorn gets nerfed after a week/everything gets crazy health+damage buffs and everyone is sad.[/b]
Well that's my 2 cents on the matter. What are your opinions on the topic?

True, but honestly, it's not that hard either way. The Jelly would just make it slightly more easier.

It's not so much the fact that I want him to sell it, as I would much rather get it in a drop from actually doing something, as it is that I would just like to be proven that xur is random and he can sell any exotic. Bungie claims that Xur is random, but look at his record. When's the last time he sold G-horn, or even truth, or Suros, or many other guns for that matter. It seems as if lately Bungie has been trying to make the better exotics harder to obtain (as they should be) and leaving us to buy the infamous dragons breath, no land beyond, and other "awful" exotics, over and over again. Whose to say G-horn is or isn't even on Xur's list anymore? Only bungie knows, and the only way to find out is if he sold something we haven't seen in a while. Again, I'm not saying he should or shouldn't sell anything. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and if you need it I hope you get it from a drop soon and don't even need Xur to sell it and if you have it, that's awesome, I'm happy for you! I just want to know that Xur truly is random and can sell ANY AND ALL weapons. Good luck guardians!

1 ReplyHonesly, Gjallarhorn just needs a nerf. They need to lower the damage on the wolfpack rounds, its like a double rocket hit.

The problem with that is that strikes and VoGare already really easy. The only time that Gjallarhorn has impact is Crota's End, and it isn't a huge impact with a full team with experience. All that it does is lead to elitists excluding people from raid because of bad RNG. Rather get rid of that than maintain difficulty because I'll have more fun destroying everything in front of me (if you are right about that) than I will being kicked from raid groups (which does happen).

Your whole ridiculously-long post was invalidated as soon as you stated you have Gjallarhorn. If it's that game-breaking, dismantle yours. Since we all know you won't, go ahead and shut your hypocritcal mouth and stop posting stupid shit.

Really i dont see the point? Most strikes take me 10-15 minute if they even last that long, most nightfalls and weekly are anywhere from 8-30 minutes depends on burn or no burn. Ive done all of this without a gally, my clan has 1 person with gally, how does having that particular item dramatically change anything. Ive killed crota 5 times, out of those 5 only one person ever had gally. Its not the gun itself, its the user behind it. Ghorn is a great single target rocket launcher but its yet to hold me back. All these special snowflakes, the game lacks content regardless, one item doesnt make or break this game. Xur will one day sell the gally, get the -blam!- over yourselves.

Edited by The Dynasty18: 1/27/2015 4:11:56 PMOnly downside to any weapon for that matter is i put in time and do all the nightfalls, strikes, raids and never got a gjally until i got completely carried through a nightfall 2 weeks ago where i died seconds into phogoth and team beat it...i got the gjally my team got the shaft...only reason i could ever disagree is that bad players seem to have it more often than well deserving players because RNGesus doesnt favor one or the other he just gives away at random... But i agree it should not be sold

Just like the hard light I don't have yet either although I do have 4 Gjallarhorns between 2 characters I don't think he should sell certain exotics so they keep an honest "exotic" status

4 RepliesYup. Some exotics should truly be "exotic" and stay rare. An exotic bird wouldn't be labeled that if you could find them all over your back yard. I don't have one and I agree with this.

Of course,... only a person with a gjallarhorn would start a thread like this. I want this weapon, but i don´t want to spend/loss too much time... and i´m playing often enough to say this.

I was a lucky scrub in the crucible on week three when I got this fantastic weapon. After seeing first hand what it could do I immediately wanted all my friends to obtain one and surprised them all when I stated I wanted xur to sell it. Then I started thinking and it was during this thought process that I came to the same conclusion as yourself. Bungie would have no choice but to do something to stop how easy the game would become. It is a difficult topic. On the one hand I hate the culture of wanting to be the only one with the cool gear to show off to my friends. But if everyone had this one weapon then the game would become a joke. Just my and my friend alone can kill atheon in 2 times vengeance already

I've been constantly saying this to everyone who plays Destiny with me, Bungie can't afford 90% of the community roaming around with Gjallarhorn... Everything will get obliterated in the game, especially now that its at 331 attack. I also feel the same way about the Ice Breaker.

I don't think it would be like that. I still prefer many guns in my exotic slot than a rl. I would only use it in select situations. I also think many people would pass on it for various reasons. Ie casuals low on coins, Christmas noobs low on coins, not understanding the awesomeness of GH (believe it or not, not everyone reads the forums), players that can't get on over the weekend for whatever reasons. Sure tons will buy it but i don't think it will be the end all, be all of the game.

As peeved as I am that I don't have it, I'd much rather earn it as a drop. Firstly it'd be more satisfying, but also because of everything you've said here. Good post, maybe you'll be able to educate some of the people here who don't understand this haha

It makes no sense that people would stop playing the game if they have the best weapon, it actually gives more incentive to play. If you own a Lambo would you never drive it after the first week?
