I am glad Xur didn't have the Gjallarhorn, here's why.
Ok, so let's start with the basic logic everybody already understands.
1) Xur sells Gjallarhorn
2) Everybody is happy and buys Gjallarhorn
3) People spend the weekend upgrading Gjallarhorn
4) By Tuesday, everyone has an upgraded Gjallarhorn- at least with Wolfpack Rounds.
Sounds good so far, right?
Well, let's continue.
5) Weekly Heroic/Nightfall- both jokes, people just use Gjallarhorn and slaughter the boss/the adds quickly and painlessly.
6) VoG - groups kill the Templar instantly, groups kill Atheon within 1-2 time's vengeance. So VoG is a joke.
7) Crota's End- Gjallarhorn on shriekers, every group gets hidden chest free (wasn't hard anyways). Gjallarhorn at Deathsinger, wizards dead in 30 seconds, another 30 seconds shriekers are dead, another 30 seconds to a minute and Deathsinger is dead. People use Gjallarhorn to instantly take down Crota's shield, and use Gjallarhorn on adds+oversoul. Crota fight gets even easier.
8) Vanguard Tiger/Roc - More Gjallarhorn spam, more instant killing bosses.
9) Daily Heroics - these were already pretty easy, made even easier with infinite Gjallarhorns.
Clarification: so now Everybody has Gjallarhorn, it's not special any more, everything in the game becomes a joke. Bungie is either forced to nerf Gjallarhorn or make everything in the game 5 times harder. New players would be angry because they missed the opportunity, and many will stop playing/not buy the game. Nobody has any reason to use an exotic other than Gjallarhorn unless its something like the Hawkmoon, Suros, or Mythoclast. Game is unbalanced, and the end result will be Gjallarhorn being ruined for everyone - or some other unhappy result.
[b]Tl;Dr: Game unbalanced, not fun, Gjallarhorn gets nerfed after a week/everything gets crazy health+damage buffs and everyone is sad.[/b]

Gjallarhorn needs a nerf anyway. It does around 3 rockets worth of damage in one rocket with its ridiculously OP Wolfpack rounds. The only reason people like it is because its OP in PvE where it can't piss anyone off, whereas in PvP it's just another big boom. I hope it gets nerfed because it just does too much damage. But still. I need that gun and I won't rest until I get it. [spoiler]I don't hope it gets nerfed[/spoiler]

This makes sense. I just got mine on Tuesday and maxed it out on Friday so I wouldn't feel very special. I am one of the few people on my list that has it

They simply would not put solar burn on the nightfalls. Daily heroics are already a joke. Crota is cheesed constantly, so no real argument there. Besides, unless you're rolling solo, a group can easily take down crotas shield. I would rather not see it nerfed, but we all acknowledge that it's OP, and it most likely will get a nerf eventually anyway. You can easily take Atheon down in 2 teleports without any ghorns as well, so I'm not sure about that Vault comment. Wether xur sells it or not, more people will be getting the weapon as time goes on, so I don't think it matters much. Every weapon is situational. I'm sure plenty of people run other exotics up until the bosses, and then switch over, because nothing else has enough health for it to be effective. If anything, I see icebreaker getting a nerf. Constant ammo recharge, max range, high impact sniper rifle, useful in every single situation.

Xûr shouldn't be selling any Exotics period, and Exotics shouldn't be obtained from RNG only. There should be Exotic bounties for every single Exotic, not just a handful of them.

SERIOUSLY, I DON"T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND. If you've ever said something like "You don't NEED a Gjallarhorn for blah blah blah blah", then you are one or more of the following: wrong, butthurt, in denial, or frustrated that you don't have one. If you're response is something along the lines of "I just don't care" or "I don't need one to play the game" then your response will automatically translate to "I am weak and the darkness will consume me". How do I know this? Because I am the Traveler, and I possess other worldly power the likes of which you could not even begin to comprehend.... especially if you're a Hunter, because Hunters are a little slow. To have a Gjallarhorn is to have an advantage. When you shoot your Gjally once at an enemy, only one rocket flies out, but with the combined damage inflicted by Wolfpack rounds, that one rocket has the damage of three rockets. If you have max heavy ammo with increased ammo capacity armor, then you have on your Guardian about 21 rockets worth of damage. Sure, you don't NEED a Gjallarhorn. But pushing back the darkness is a walk in the park if you have one. You think the darkness -blam!-s with me now that I have TWO Gjallarhorns? No, now I -blam!- with the darkness. When I am taking a stroll down Old Russia and I see the darkness building a sand castle, I approach the darkness and kick the shit out of that sand castle. I stomp it down all the way to sand castle hell! And the darkness just stares at me, with it's green beady eyes, and does nothing. Because it knows what I've got.

I personally have been using my Ice Breaker more than my Gjallahorn. But I agree that almost everything would become a cake walk if everyone had a G lala Horn.

I guess from this topic that if Xur sell this weapon than most players will use it and make the game completely easy and not challenging. I guess that's why players are resorting to extreme methods to complete the content because they don't have exotic weapon like this. Maybe if Xur sell this weapon and other weapons the players want they might actually play the game how it was meant to be play.

Also, a group will from (let's call them "weapon hipsters" or, "whips" for short) who will stop using the ghorn simply on the bases of "everyone has one". This also helps with weapons not being nerfed. You see, the whips will actually convince each other that the ghorn sucks and is unusable, some will go as for as dismantling theirs, if only to say "I dismantled that pos." The whips always create the needed equilibrium within a system, because they hate what the majority love, and gamers love what is op. My point is this, when something becomes "common" it saves itself from scrutiny. Only when a thing is rare and desired, does it then appear under the microscope.

8 RepliesSadly I think most of us can agree that the day Xur does decide to sell the Jellyhorn ( RNG based I know ) it will mean the end of it as we all know it will get nerfed. So having it the way it's set up now is nice and perfect. People just need to keep doing Nightfalls or just get lucky through a legendary engram to earn this weapon. Sorry people but that's just how it should be.

we were doing hard VoG before and after gjallarhorns. the gjally wasnt even my heavy for nexus nugjtfall.
