I think the poll results speak for themselves...this wouldn't be a good idea at all. Yes, I would buy gear and weapons if they sold them and I know many others would as well. I would probably pay $50 just for an ice breaker. However, this game would lose a lot of its appeal if I could buy everything that I wanted. This game keeps me coming back because I have fun playing it and part of that fun is trying to get gear that I don't have. If I could buy everything I wanted then I'd never care about packages from leveling up the cryptarch, factions, etc. I wouldn't care about my nightfall rewards. I wouldn't get excited about legendary engrams anymore. The gear hunt/grind is why people are addicted to this game. I agree that they should sell more items in the tower...but not for real money.

I see your point however, I also feel that this game was not designed to be an MMORPG, this game was built around crazy Halo muti-player action and the worlds and missions are on the side to level up your guns and give you a chance for some swanky looking purples. All those guns mean nothing in the crucible, I will still dust you with my trusty Marshal-A. So what then is the point in grinding so hard if all your work is automatically equalized in the Crucible?

  • Well under your logic, what would be the point of purchasing a weapon for real money if everything is equalized in the crucible? If this is the way you think, then why even suggest in-game purchases at all? You are just replacing the grind with spending real money. Yes, that will make bungie money in the short term but it will also decrease the amount of time people play. Players who primary do PvE will lose interest very quickly.

I think interest is fading fast either way. The new raid can be completed solo and both chests along with the first two events can be completed by a lvl 28 solo. The PVE is hardly anything to write home about unless you like a healthy dose of cheese. The game is built around a PVP engine, that's why you COULD spend money on swanky gear that really doesn't mean anything at the end of the day in more ways than one because it's all digital. Point being it's a game, I'm not having much fun with the new content, let me try out some new guns in pvp and have some fun. The shop would also have more than just pointless guns for sale. A octo-ghost and/or panda ghost that sounded like Samuel L. Jackson would be too cool.

  • Well spoken! This sums up the problem with micro-transactions. They decrease replayability.
