Exotic Missives/Exotic Design Contest

Let me start off saying that I am enjoying Destiny greatly and I am excited about the future of Destiny. Destiny holds great promise for improvement. One aspect that I think about a lot is the exotic weapon bounties. The exotic weapons that I get from the missives have a special quality to them, because you are actively working toward acquiring them. I feel like I earned my Thorn and Bad Juju, because I built them by completing quests instead of getting lucky with a drop, decryption, or by buying it from Xur. The exotic missives are still a little off from what I would hope they would be, given the objectives of completing strikes 25 times or killing 200 enemies during nightfalls make no sense to obtaining these weapons. Let me propose that instead of having some arbitrary objective (complete 5 strikes without dying), have guardians complete objectives that make sense to the construction of these weapons. When we complete Thorn, we have to kill so many guardians so we can infuse their light into the weapon. This is a good start, because it makes sense to its construction. Please include future exotic missives with objectives that make sense to its development. Let's imagine a weapon that you can build by finding a dead guardian/ghost that contained a blueprint on how to make this weapon. You start off by killing a specific thrall that has unique skeletal structure that you give to gunsmith to make into the stock of the gun. Then you have to kill a certain amount of Vex enemies to collect casings so you can encase the stock with plating. Then you go to a spot on Mars where you have to collect black goo/oil from cabal to lubricate the weapon. Then you have to have so much air time on your sparrow with the incomplete weapon equipped that will help cool it down and then bam!, you got a weapon YOU created. I haven't put much thought into the details, but each objective presents an aspect to creating this weapon that is relevant instead of doing silly tasks that only service as busy work. Which leaves me to my next bit of feedback, why don't you turn to the community for suggestions? How about introducing a contest that would get the community involved in the design of exotic weapons or armor? Let's outline how this could enhance both community involvement and the game itself, because this game is about a community of guardians and the community could benefit greatly by being more involved: Every three months (or 6 months), open up a submission section on bungie.net so guardians can submit their design for a new exotic/exotic missive. The community will submit their ideas that will include the following: -aesthetic design of exotic -skill tree -objectives for missive (if a weapon) -perks -name and description (with a the description referencing the winning submission's creator) Every three months (or 6), select your favorite and add it to the game. This will help keep the community engaged and excited. The Mega-man series (just for reference), used a similar method in getting the community involved in their video game. They allowed submissions from the fans to design a boss for the games. I think this is an effective and simple way to bolster some camaraderie and involvement from the community. How cool would it be to know or play with someone who came up with the design of the weapon you're firing or the armor you are wearing? I am not familiar with how difficult it would be to program a new exotic, but if you could find away to let the fans get more involved in the game, you may end up surprising the fans with your commitment to providing them with an experience they are an active participant in and not just passive attendants on your Destiny roller-coaster. Thanks for reading this long rant. I am a big fan of Destiny and continue to enjoy this creative and exciting universe you have created. Keep up the great work! Thanks to the Guardians who make this game a warm and enjoyable place to play. Don't let the negativity of the community detract from your experience! Cheers!
