Biggest thing I think is point 7 where the double reload just doesn't make sense (not that the lense flare does) but why doesn't it have a larger clip size (same as total capacity) as you're having to reload for each shot anyway?!

Because you're not reloading after each shot. You're cycling the bolt and chambering another round. All bolt actions that are not single shot (hand load one round, fire, hand load another round etc) required you to cycle the bolt to get the next round in the chamber. Most bolt actions have magazines between four and six rounds with options for a 10 round.
