Duplicate Exotics
Just curious.
A clan mate of mine bought icebreaker when Xur sold it. Since then he has received multiple icebreakers but cannot get a Ghorn to drop to save his life.
I on the other hand had a Ghorn drop early in in the game and have had 3 Ghorn duplicates since. I cannot get my hands on an icebreaker.
Does anyone else notice exotic drops frequently have guns you already posses but others are forever elusive?
Just want to hear everyone's opinion on this or am I the only one. Also how does this look for RNG?
EDIT: Thanks for the replys. Just out of curiosity we have tried playing each others accounts recently and have had some interesting results. Not enough to say it works to get different exotic weapons however I did get some legendary drops and ships he's been after by using his account on my PS4.
EDIT: We experimented with the exotic chest in vog near the gorgons and found that 9/10 times the last person to open the chest got an exotic. Again its more than likely a duplicate. My clan typically keeps track and we rotate who opens it last.

I bought the truth the first time xur sold it. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I did the nightfall and got my first ever exotic out of a nightfall, it was the truth. Later that day I ran the VoG and out of the exotic chest I got the truth. Then 4 days ago I did the nightfall and got my 2nd exotic ever out of the nightfall, it was the truth. Then tonight my clan and I were doing a crota raid before the reset and I got an exotic from killing him, it was the truth. I stayed up until the reset and ran the nightfall and got my third exotic ever out of a nightfall, it was the truth. That is 5 truths in a time frame of 2 weeks. I have yet to get thunderlord or gjallarhorn but my god I have 6 total truths

1 ReplyI gardly ever have exotics drop. RNGesus hates me that way. I constantly abandon bounties because they're slways the same three though, so I've got that going for me. Which is nice.

I've had IB drop twice since I bought it, five AE's, three VoC's, four CM's, three Suros, and two HV's. No g-horns or hard lights yet, which are two that I want. Once you have something, I've noticed you have much higher chance of getting it again.

My first time, 3 energy, i got Raid chest piece, corrective measure.. The second time i got 3 energy, raid chest piece, corrective measure. To make matters worse, then I got two shotguns from legendary leveling up and I'd just redone the Invective bounty for the higher level gun. I have no luck with this game and loot drops. It's futile. I've stopped trying. edit: oh i forgot. today i got a legendary helmet engram. I've gotten three legendary engrams. ALL helmets. Mind you I don't need helmet's for any of my characters but ok. I take the legendary helmet engram to the cryptarch and what to i get? The exact same helmet my character was already wearing.

2 RepliesIt's RANDOM. Jeez... People are so gullible, superstitious etc... Have you never had a statistics class? Do all the rain dances you want, but it won't affect your loot drops.

It's completely random, and if you have more than one exotic, you are more likely to get that again than the one exotic you want. If you have half of all exotics, but you want icebreaker, for example, you are more likely to get one of the exotics that you already have. But simply having an exotic does not increase the chances of receiving that certain exotic again. It's random.

7 plan C's; 6 Patience and time; 6 Ice breakers; 4 Suros; 3 Truths; 3 Universal remotes; 3 Last words; Beside all the copies of exotics, I'm still missing 2 old exotics and 2 dlc exotics.

3 RepliesI've had 2 SUROS Regimes drop for me (Nightfall and Atheon), which is half of my exotic weapon drop total. The only other straight drops I've gotten were No Land Beyond and the Vex Mythoclast.

6 Suros No ghorn Bought or did a bounty for every other exotic It always gives the best stuff to scrubs or late joiners.

I have never had icebreaker or Galla drop. I have got hard light and mida four times though and patience and time twice, thunderlord 3 times and the vex 5 times.

Got my 4th hawkmoon from vog last week. Done over 17 hard raids. Still no vex. Lol.

I've had 4 icebreaker drops , but gjarllarhorn will never drop , done nightfall with all clan members when they got gjallarhorn drop . I've given up on it

I have the exact same problem as your friend. 4 icebreakers and 0 gallarhorns later..... It's bungies way of keeping u interested in the game. He who has everything has little to play for.

The only time I got a duplicate exotic was Plan C. I bought it from Xûr the first time he sold it and then got trolled hard by the cryptarch when I decrypted a legendary engram not even an hour later. A heads up would've been nice ya jerk.

I've received 5 vex Mythoclast but just recently got my first hawkmoon.

Last week I got two no land beyonds from one raid. (First chest and Crota) like really? Ones bad enough, but two?!

I just broke down some more dupes yesterday; got another 5 exotic shards of of it. Yeah I want galongalporn, but my exotic slot will only infrequently go to a heavy anyway. Haven't touched thunderlord yet.
