How To Get “UnHacked”-101

Hello as some of you know that people out there will try to hack your account. Let me tell you first hand, it is possible. Recently my account was hacked. There are a few things that hackers will look for when they are hacking accounts, First of they can get a free Xbox live subscription. (This Means Everyone is a Target), Second your Gamerscore and how high it is, Lastly if you have something valuable on your account. (Aka Recon) Now the steps that a hacker goes through in changing the account. First they obtain the Windows Live ID. This would be the Email Address and the password. They recover the account. Next they buy 1000 Microsoft Points. This way they change the Gamertag name; once this is done they delete all of the friends on the account. After this process is complete they have done all that they need to do. To reverse what the hacker has done you must act very quickly. I did and Lucky for me I got my account back. The processes of getting the account back from calling Xbox live Support (1-800-4MY-XBOX) (1-800-469-9269). This can take a long time because they have to verify that the account is yours. I am going to try to speed this up for you so you can get down to it and get your account back ASAP! Step One: login.live.com Click the Link and Insert your Email Address, Then say Forgot Password (Note it does not let you Link the site. You must copy and paste it in the web Browser) Step Two: You must know wait for the email to Arrive. Once it arrived click the First Link in the Email. Step Three: Follow the Steps to changing your password. Step Four: Once you have changed the password Head over to your Xbox. Step Five: Go to the Dashboard and click Recover account. Step Six: They have probably changed the Gamertag of the account, Enter in what it was; it will most likely prompt you that this Gamertag does not exist. It will give you the option to just input the Window Live ID. Click this option and Enter in the Window Live ID and the new password. Step Seven: You account should be recovering! For some Reason the account does not start to recover you must call Xbox Live Support. (1-800-469-9269) You will be prompted by the Computer Voice, Here is what you must Say. Xbox 360 Xbox Live Agent This is the information that will have the Computer send you to the right agent. When they say “Hello can I have your First and Last Name” Say,” Your Name and you can call me by my First name/Second.” Then say, “My Account was hacked.” You will have to have Information ready for this so they can verify that it is your account. You Will Need Ready: Home Phone Number Address Zip Code Email Address (With the account) Last Four Digits of Credit Card (There may be some other things that they need to know.) Follow them through the steps, they will guide you through the steps that I already had you do at the Top of this Thread. Just try them again just so you can be personally guided through them. If it does not work there is one option left. Locking the account, this means that it will NEVER be used again. This is the Final option. Hopefully you will get your account back and will not have to get a new one. Something very important is that you should never give away any personal information online. You should never put your Window Live ID in a site that “give out” Free Microsoft Points. This is a trick only enter this information in trusted sites like bungie.net and xbox.com. Hope This Help if you ever get hacked -Bright-

Sent Into me by
Posted by: MC Enders III So you say you never gave your e-mail and password to anyone at all? This might be your problem... there are a number of different spyware programs out there that monitor every button you press on your keyboard, every icon you click, and takes screen-shots periodically to see what you are up to. These are called Keyloggers and they can be used to take your xbox live account via login.live.com and performing a name and password change. I had some jackass do that to me a while back, but luckily I did not log in to the Windows Live account that was linked to my Xbox Live account. So, to avoid Xbox Live account hijacking via keyloggers and computer spyware, I would recommend doing the following steps: 1) Before you make an Xbox Live account, make a new Windows Live account. Do not link this email account to anything at all, do not use it for banking, your myspace ID, etc. etc.. Just use it for your Xbox Live account. Don't even link it to bungie.net. 2) When you make your new Xbox Live account, link it to the email you used in step 1. 3) Never log in to that email again on any computer at all. Do not give your name or password to anyone unless you are 100% certain that you do not want your Xbox Live account. 4) (Optional) Invest in some anti-spyware programs. A very good one that I would recommend to anyone is spyware doctor (not compatible with 64 bit operating systems). Others include AVG and AdAware.

Prevention
As asked by cortana 5 here are some way to prevent a hack from happening.
Posted by:cortana 5 This is very good, my friend. Kudos to you! If I may ask, could you post some ways to prevent the hack in the first place? It'd be even more helpful! Thank you!
As to the person who said that I should say how to prevent hackers. Just reset your password and click the option for change password every 72 days. Also when you make a new password at longin.live.com it tells you how secure the password you have! As to prevention, don't give out information to anyone. Do not recover your account on other peoples xbox's use a memory card. You can store your account on the memory card and you will never have to wait for it to recover! If you see anything like I have made a Microsoft Point Generator. Those are fake they are up to steal your information. And the last precaution would be, check your account for activity if you are not playing on it either a computer at school or something like that!
But most importan don't give any of the information out to anyone! • Just got hacked today, and the -blam!- spent $250 dollars on my Credit Card, and stole my account. I know, I was -blam!- pissed. Thanks to you, I stole his account, got mine back, and now his IP Adress is banned from Xbox Live. Thanks bro, this helped a lot.

 • Also, something esle to add to this: keep anti virus software on your PC. the way they get your windows liver ID is by keeping a key logger on your pc which keeps track of every keystroke you make on your PC.

 • They ask for information on the account if you do not have a credit card with that account then they will not ask you for it!
Posted by: McFiLLa Just a question: I don't use a credit card, since i'm only 16, so what do i replace with the credit card details? Is it the last 4 digits of my prepaid card?
•
Posted by: HaI0Fighter92
Posted by: unpwnt Or to cover this whole topic, you couldve just said 'Step 1, learn how to make a good password that doesnt get bruteforced; /tutorial'
Unless you get phished.
Phising is 100% preventable. Don't enter your Live information into any form fields unless the website's address is prefixed with https:// and the address is on a Microsoft-owned or -affiliated domain. It's that simple. • How low can you get? really? Im not kidding. Who would go through all that trouble just to get the 620 gamerscore that i have? Some people are really sad. This is almost as bad as paying £100 for 1,000,000 gold on Runescape. Major kudos on the article. :) But the biggest tip of all... KEEP YOUR PASSWORD SECRET. TEH MARTSTER

 •
Posted by: wHo iZ XtrEmE Its not hacking in the first place. Learn the definition PPL. I can write a really, really simple 100 word guide how to get accts back someday, whenever I get around to it. btw nobody can jack my acct.
Social engineering is the greatest tool a hacker uses. It is a form of hacking. Even guessing a password is considered a form of hacking. Maybe you should learn your "definitions". Also, anyone can be hacked. Anyone. All it takes is a dedicated hacker with enough skill to do so. You can put up defenses and precautions and most won't try after few failed attempts because they can do it to someone who does not have them in place. But if a hacker is determined enough and willing to put in the time, they can get it. Trust me, I know this stuff.

You can not get the account back, you must call Xbox support and have them lock the account! Hopefully they changed the name of your account so you can make a new one with the same name! But you will need to get all the achevments back! But if they do change the Windows Live ID, you are "screwed" so to speak!
